That s^%$ was a PITA to cut and get out of there. Finally put it in the freezer for a week. Not to bad then. Larr, this guys directions are written for someone that knows a lot more about tubes than I do. Gonna have to e-mail him for some clarifications.

First thing, on the phono board, are the J1 jumpers optional, or are they to switch between MC and MM carts? I'm confused between the regualted and unregulated options on the main board. Which one and what do I leave off for the regulated option??

Ok, need some more clarification. On page 2 of the assembly instructions in the power transformer paragraph he says and i quote" A center tapped primary can be used; just leave D11,12 and R301, 302 off the board then attach the center tap to the CT connection point" unquote. This may be X-former 101 knopwledge that I missed, but every transformer I've come accross has the AC mains as the primary, or in 480 3 phase when going from 480 to 120 the 480 is the primary. Is there something I'm missing here like the high voltage is always the primary?? It would not be that hard to figure out if (what i call the primary)windings in this toroid also have a center tap. So..... does he want the center tap of the 275--ct---275 in the center tap connection point??

BTW ---those Goldpoints are NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I see it the 275-ct-275 is DERIVED from the 120 being applied, therefore that would make the 120 the primary and the 275-ct-275 the secondary.

Do you still have the link to his site? If so can you see it in the pics? I wish I was as smart as I use to be I might have the answers. Yes the Goldpoints should be nice or should I say they better be nice. LOL You can have the other attenuators I sent the ones that aren't done yet. LOL

Thanks Buddy
Larry

PS Let me know and I will email him.

Yes Larry I figured it out from the pictures. I would still like to know abouty his using the "primary" term where I would normally use the term"secondary".

The BG's are already crowding the J1 jumpers. Pretty tight on that board.

It's nothing serious Larrt, just one of those things that won't go down smooth ya know?? Maybe someone else wrote the instructions or it was a typo.

Just one question. Where did the BGs come from? People are still looking for replacements for them at the same price. I wonder why they quit making them?

larry

From Japan. I believe they were made under license by Nippon Chemi-con and when the Blackgate bunch wanted to renew the contract nwith Nippon they couldn't agree on something. I may be mistaken about the companyu being Nippon but the basic premise was the same. Evidently the BG folks weren't manufacturers, just idea folk. Someone may have a better take on this Joe???

When you specified the face plate evidently it was with the standard pot dimensions. The stay tab holes aren't right, and I have to hand file 3 out of the 4 holes .015 larger and file the keeper slots for the Goldpoints. No biggie, just time hogs.
