SP 12 SE

Ah..... Thanks Scott, the Spec 1 has a separate gain for the phono section and a mic mixing feature.

Here is what my SP 12 will look like sorta. Mine has a few more upgrades.
http://www.tubes4hifi.com/DP.htm

These are the mods I will be incorporating.

All resistors are wire wound non-inductive.
Some of the caps are Mundorf SIO the ones that aren't I asked Lee to see if he can find some Muse. The Gains and Selector will be Goldpoint
The volume will be a TKD attenuator

16 AWG silver plated OFC wires.
Silver RCAs
Will have a power choke and toroidal transformer
Tubes will be RCA clear tops and another RCA tube. I forget what for. I can't remember the name. I was going to go with my Beralli phono amp; but changed my mind. Might as well do it while we are in there.

I haven't looked at the parts list for the phono board. I did send extra resistors. No extra SIO caps.

Ok, well, keep loading this project up. Gonna be intertersting.

Just a little more voltage to make your hair stand on end. LOL Be very careful. They will light you up like a Christmas tree.

Oh hell , i'm almost immune up to 480 3 phase. That still knocks my dick in the dirt.

The other goldpoints were received loaded for you. So a package will be coming with everything but the phono tubes. I'll pick them up this week.

I'm almost scared to add everything I bought for this amp. Would anyone like to guess with the kit how much? Now the next question. What would you pay for a pre that was everything almost the best. I would say this is a high-end pre when it gets done.

I'll mention John again. Really nice guy. He said just bare bones the SP 12 is a nice pre. He also said the modifications to the kit were very nice. And were picked very well. I turned the goldpoints. Compared to the ones in the kit is a world of difference. Roy is helping find the parts for the upgrade. I think he is interested in knowing how it comes out. Lee can you measure THD on a pre? What all can you measure. Can you use your Spec as a reference then do the tube. There are going to be some higher numbers than a SS.

I can fire up the daqarta finally and try that. Put an offer in on an Audio Precision One analyzer. Might take up my play money for a couple months.

I had to hand drill some of the holes for the resistors. They were still tight enough that I had to pull the leads through. You guys have me scared now. I hope I didn't mess up. It says to solder from the bottom on the resistors. I didn't have a pin vice so I didn't force it. I went as small as I could.

Larry

Yep. I have been studying the assembly thread on his website.

Started on the SP 12 last night. Got the phono board completer , working on the main board now.

Was having problems with the camera.
