LOL We always called that visual progress. Kept people quiet. We would take the weekend off before many 12 hour days to come. They would have the plane paneled up we would have to rig. Just so the Ties would see progress. LOL The progress was we were rigging. They couldn't see that though.

I am happy though. Thank you till your better paid.

Larry

Till I'm better paid?? Ya mean I get paid to do this?????

Ok, but the offer still stands. I may need a favor some day. The project has got to the point where it will go pretty fast now. Just got the point to point stuff now. Waiting on parts for Don's amp so it'll probably get done this week. The stuff you spec'd it with is some NICE stuff. Should sound awesome.

Really I would like a pretty transparent pre. Just the tubes giving it warmth. That is what I was trying to do anyway. We shall see. LOL

More progress. point to point wiring is a tedious undertaking if you want to have it look good.

I really hope it sounds like I think it will. When I buy things I think in my mind what it will sound like. If that is possible. LOL

That is looking very nice. The THD maybe a little higher than a SS pre. I think you will like it though. I think the Carys and this pre will compliment each other though.

Larry

PS Thank You so much.

well, spec's aren't the only thing that qualifies something good to listen too. Noise however , to my ears never is. they seem to be able to ferret it out, whether that is a blessing or curse depends on what I'm listening to I suppose.

And you are very welcome , Sir.

I'm stumped.....kinda.... I know, doesn't take much sometimes. On this pre there are 6 selectable inputs. there are 5 that are labeled, and 1 that isn't. There is a Tape in and no label for it. There is a tape monitor/source switch. My question, everything source wise has to go through the tape/source switch in order to monitor either tape or source correct?? AND.....it has to have a double feed coming off the source selector switch to Tape/ Source switch to have a "correct" tape out loop correct?? As in low level not line level for the tape out. OR can i take the tape out point and move it to the downside of the gain controls and before the volume control??? What, if anything would be to gain by that?? Other than , obviously gain. Gain, Gain, go away.....

And is there a tricky way to have a tape dupe function without having a separate switch????/
And will this be patently obvious in the morning after I've had some sleep?? Today was a long one.

Well it's morning, and my usual "go to bed with a problem, wake up with an amswer " rouitine didn't work. This will be a conscious thing evidently.

AH Ha I have the answer. I couldn't get a 5 step attenuator for a reasonable price. Had to get in your frame of mind to understand. LOL

Larry

Good, laughter keeps the small men in the white coats at bay.

Ok, sitting here looking at Larry's pre. He's laid out some serious cash for some top-of-the-line attenuators, selectors and volume controls. I'm having serious misgivings seeing all this nullified by having all signals routed through the $2.95 DPDT tape/source switch. Are my doubts warranted or am i making mountains out of mole butts??
