When you specified the face plate evidently it was with the standard pot dimensions. The stay tab holes aren't right, and I have to hand file 3 out of the 4 holes .015 larger and file the keeper slots for the Goldpoints. No biggie, just time hogs.
I'm the 1st to go with the goldpoints. On the Gains. There isn't another like this pre. This is my customization with his recommendations. PM me what I owe you for the BGs. Except with the non-inductive WW resistors. I bought the Pre-tubes from him. They are used but tested very good. I like all the input jacks. I run a lot of gear. TV, DVD, CDP, TT,Cassette deck,R2R. Alot of pre.s can't handle that much gear.

Oh he uses Gold jacks. You know why I went with silver. I will treat them before I use them so as not to have corrosion. Do you think I should treat the boards when they get here. I do want this to be my last pre for this system. It took me awhile to collect the parts for it. With all the mods and everything. After you listen I want you to tell me what you think it is worth. Have you messed with the TKD volume control yet. I am scared to add up every thing. LOL

Faceplate is done.

Larry, if you treat the boards(with what precisely?) it would be a pain in the butt to service. You'll be changing tubes and stuff and a couple caps might have to be changed periodically that sit closer to the tubes,. so I would say no.
I just finished comparing the tracking of the Goldpoint attenuators. you have to go to 3 deciomal placers to pick up a difference between them, , but that could be my meter, almost identical readings.
I have put a knob on the TDK and checked the feel, haven't measured the tracking on it yet.

Do you mean 3 decimal places between the gain attenuators. If that is what you mean. Yes they are suppose to be very precise. Forget the treating.

LOL now I'm getting anxious. Dude you have no idea what this means to me. LOL When did I send BGs? Sent some along time ago if I remember right.

I think if I buy anything now it would be a CD transport. I have enough DACs and clock/anti-jitter to do the job of getting it to the pre.

Shouldn't have to till they ncome up with something that eliminates that. One thing about it, hen I get through testing it on the ATS 1, it will be well documented. Had to order a special cable to go to the printer from the ATS, cost 96.00. Should be here in a few days.

I want to see distortion numbers. I really want to see. Some people say you can't go by specs. You can get a very good idea by looking at numbers. I do look at numbers when I shop. I don't remember how I found this pre. I'm glad I did. I read everything about it I could get my hands on.

Yea for tube stuff. LOL is it done? If so what does it sound like with the RCAs? If you twist alot of wire get some safety wire pliers. Better than doing it by hand. I really appreciate it.
