Skynyrd77's Thank Godamighty , Finally My Own WOPL Build Thread!!

I've worked on a couple 850's and a 1050, and they cool runners ...

Unfortunately, I don't believe the SX-1250 is compatible with a low output MC cartridge. You would have to use a step-up transformer to use a low output MC cart with the SX-1250. If it's a high output moving coil cartridge with 2.5 mV you would be OK.

Probably a no go for hooking up a powered sub woofer to your SX-1250.

Nando.

Can't he use a Radio Shack 42-2109 phono preamp for MC? I still have one, those little boxes are gold in my book

Yes sir. Those receivers are not supposed to run hot. Especially not loaded up. Makes me wonder about the bias setting

The 626 gets pretty warm just sitting there idling, not abnormally but when I walk into the garage, I get that whiff of Pioneer warmth. I leave it on all the time

Jase...can you get a couple pics of the heatsinks? If the 1250 uses the same temp compensation diodes as the rest of that line that could be a problem too. The leads are very brittle and prone to breakage..

That's got an STK module though IIRC.

I get the smell as I did with the 939. But that 939 ran cool. I pushed it hard lee. But It got hot at normal levels also. Just Idling I can barley put my hand on the top on left and right side. The center isn't as hot nor is the back. Just the 2 sides

You brought up the bias lee. He said he was having trouble getting the stabilizer board stabilized . So it wouldn't hold bias. But I guess he found 2 diodes wired in series that was messing it up. He said he changed it to the correct one and bias locked in great then...

Circuit pro electronics in granger/south bend Indiana .. A dude in a pull barn with more vintage shit then I've ever seen in one place. So I figured he knew his shit..

I don't know the specs of the RS model you have, Ron. I think that model is one used for a receiver or preamp that doesn't have a phono input. You use the auxiliary connections of the receiver or preamp to connect the RS to the turntable.

You could be leaving a lot on the table without matching impedance, output sensitivities of the cartridge to the phono section of your preamp/receiver or stand-alone.

I've heard many good testimonials on the Denon DL-110 cartridge.

Nando.

Ok, gotcha

Would a line stage preamp work then?

Well here's the updated pio vrs 3600 pre thing!! Laz will appreciate this..
But I've been bitching that I couldn't get any low end out of my system . So when I just got the 1250 back I used it straight then as a pre. And I had all the lows. I had written it of as dudes xover design. But the pio was like whoa. But I lost a lot of detail and accuracy with it. So I hooked the 3600 back up and sure enough no low end. I got a bit mad so I had the old (kick it) thought running through my head. So instead of kicking it I unhooked it and from about 3 to 4 inches off the concrete and dropped it.... And guess what!!!!! ITS BACK..... This thing is badass now. All my lows are there. The clarity and detail and accuracy and BASS !!! Now this thing is sounding good.. :thumbleft::thumbleft:

I would have had a coronary watching something like this - damn dude. :violent1: Don't use this technique for everyday troubleshooting. Will this one be going to Lee or Jer?

The good part of this is that you now know what the preamp is capable of - it just needs to be opened up to find the problem area and get it repaired.
