Well here's the updated pio vrs 3600 pre thing!! Laz will appreciate this..
But I've been bitching that I couldn't get any low end out of my system . So when I just got the 1250 back I used it straight then as a pre. And I had all the lows. I had written it of as dudes xover design. But the pio was like whoa. But I lost a lot of detail and accuracy with it. So I hooked the 3600 back up and sure enough no low end. I got a bit mad so I had the old (kick it) thought running through my head. So instead of kicking it I unhooked it and from about 3 to 4 inches off the concrete and dropped it.... And guess what!!!!! ITS BACK..... This thing is badass now. All my lows are there. The clarity and detail and accuracy and BASS !!! Now this thing is sounding good.. :thumbleft::thumbleft:

I would have had a coronary watching something like this - damn dude. :violent1: Don't use this technique for everyday troubleshooting. Will this one be going to Lee or Jer?

The good part of this is that you now know what the preamp is capable of - it just needs to be opened up to find the problem area and get it repaired.

If the problem persists you may want to open up the top - maybe one of the ICs was dislodged from it's socket. I am assuming that the ICs are socketed tho...

That thar is redneck engineering at it's finest. I used to slap the shit out of a JVC cassette deck for the display to come on. Worked for years but now when I hit the power button, the display is there in all it's glory for less then a second. Not sure what the deal with it is. I will contact you and have you walk me through... wait I got this!!!

Ok, gotcha

Would a line stage preamp work then?
Ron: A simple line stage preamplifier won't have an RIAA phono equalization circuit and won't have the needed juice to supply enough output to the amp from the tt cartridge.

I have a Peavey IP-1 which is a very rare bear, Peavey's 1st SS preamp and it has adjustable gain controls for whatever the input is. I thought maybe that would work. It even has the original chrome rackmount plate. Looks like this one. Cool that it has a biamp output

Nice preamp, Ron. You've been hanging onto that one for awhile, I bet. Last year, I found an unusual preamplifier at the local thrift store for $15. I must have passed it over on at least three visits to the store, but my curiosity got the best of me, so I bought it.

It's a PS Audio IV. I haven't tried it, yet, but it's supposedly a top-notch preamplifier in its price range, especially in regards to it's phono section.

Nando, I have yet to use it since I have owned it. It's was redone but somebody on AK and still looks like new. I did pick up a new in box PreSonus Tube preamp and might try running my guitar through it. I could not pass it up for the price but all I really wanted was the NOS Dunlop wah pedal which I have been rocking for a few days now . I also got a script logo MXR Noise Gate that has an XLR input built into the side and a Direct Box also. Really have no use for either of them either

That pre is a steal for $15 WOW

It has a ortofon om5e cart. What a shitty cart. God this is terrible. Time to mount a diff cart on here and see how and if that helps!
