- I'm 61 & think I'm still 22... just ask me.
Yes, will have the same 3 terminals as the originals. Just transfer the wiring 1 for 1 from the originals.Gepetto,
One more question....
Are the new Pots hooked up exactly as the originals?
I'm not one that has the knowledge to understand Schematics but I can replace parts.
I really don't want to ruin my amps.

Thanks Perry but, I don't consider this as a warranty thing on the build.
This is a normal wear & tear thing that happens with an original part.
Always wise to “over-spec” things like pots and switches. Both use and disuse are better tolerated.
I want to try the CJ PV6 with the WOPL but have not been able to make myself do it.....yet.... It sounds so damn good the way it is with the Forte F44 that I am like... Do I really want to change it!Glenn, the 700 Pro were built with very nice Alps 50K attenuators that easily come apart for cleaning and greasing. I wanted to keep those. Because I'm using it biamped, I wanted to match that input impedance on the other amps.
I have yet to really understand input impedance. I've read about how to check it, and Joe has commented on it and how PL used a high input impedance probably because people were using tube preamps. My understanding which may be faulty, is that total resistance of the attenuator pot affects input impedance. Hopefully Joe will comment on this.
It's all about keeping people OUT of the amp. It's yours so IF you decide to go into it, your choice..... I can't warranty anything where guys can just go in and work on shit.
Cool beans here.
Me too, there's times when I'm on the rag and had a couple too many Frosty Beverages.
Must be an age thingwith me.... Naaaah.
I'll try Lee but, I'm an asshole oh de oh....
It's just the Lineman in me coming out again.
Had the Input Attenuators been replaced on the build we wouldn't be having this conversion.
Perry, you built it and have that choice... so be it.
Warranty Voided.
By the way, I'm not one of those "people".
Worked as a Certified Micro Modular Solderer, before the military, and built the PC Boards, Control Equipment and Switch gear for the Dragon Missile System.
Certified to Military & Aerospace grade Soldering while @ McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in Titusville, FL.
I can replace an Input Attenuator, it's not Rocket Surgery nor is it Brain Science.
Here's a quick test for the pot....
After doing the cleaning of the pots turn the Input Attenuators to full Counter-Clock-wise position.
Play some tunes and slowly turn up the volume on the preamp. If you start to hear the tunes playing out your speakers... it may be time to consider replacement of the offending the Input Attenuator.
After I replaced the pots on the amp, total silence bliss even with the Preamp at full splash.
You can also void the warranty on my other Clair Bros 700 as I'm replacing those two too.
Sorry for the rant Phoenix, Lee, good day.
