For those of you that might not know. The RG line of Pioneers processors was started in Skokie, Ill of all places. the technology was licensed from RG Dynamics, the RG standing for Robert Grodinsky. The following is a pic of a Grodinsky unit. Fairly rare, i think. Ready to rack.

Lee: were you sorting through new arrivals which are sitting on the floor? Hey, if you, basically, have all your equipment centralized in one room, you are doing better than me. I'm about to set up a vintage 60's system I pieced together for my youngest son's old bedroom. The system consists of an integrated tube amp, two speakers, record changer, and reel-to reel deck, all of which were collected from the local mini flea market. I found a retro end table for $7, but I was hoping for a small wood stand of the 60's to place the equipment on.

I would like to say it was unpacking chaos, but alas, no. It was helter skelter looking for an 1/8 inch to stereo RCA out so we could plug in the kids I-Pod.

I'll tell you what. That Ikea table Web got for me is great. I was amazed.

I bought a couple of Ikea Lack tables for placing my turntables on. My son is using one in his new residence, and I still have the other in its packaging. Which Ikea stand did you get, or recommend, Larry?

OK, if it's silver, and rack mountable in a Spec rack it's got to be appropiate for this category. This is my Pioneer RT-707 deck. I had used this deck to create a 7" mix reel for Lee, a few months back. I recorded a Canadian band on Side 1: The Tragically Hip, and on Side 2, some Kitaro. But, after completing the recording and testing the tape on playback, the left channel seemed fuzzy, but only, on forward playback not on playback in the opposite direction. This came about after I had used an Ampex Grand Master tape, and it had shedded very badly. Seems there was something abrasive on that particular Ampex reel, as the heads were damaged. Innovative Audio did all the servicing on it: the entire head block assembly was swapped out with one from a low-hour RT-701, a new pinch roller was installed, and a final head and mechanical alignment has got it back in excellent working order. I listened to it, today, with my AKG K240 headphones. The Maxell tape has the "Rumours" album recorded on it and it's dated from when the LP came out. I scooped some excellent 7" tapes to use for re-recording on, but the mixes and quality of the recordings are too good to wipe out.

Oh... and Larry had never heard of Spec gear, yet he has a Pioneer RT-707 in his rack.

Lee: I've been scoring some dandies, and haven't got the heart to record over most of them. While I was at Innovative Audio picking up my deck, Gordon and his sister were busy cleaning up the back storage. I must have been at the right place at the right time, as Gordon gifted me a carton box loaded with 7" reel tapes, 22 in all: Scotch 206/7, Zonal 675, etc. As well, for a donation to the shop's coffee fund I got a mint take-up reel and some sealed cassettes, which would have ol' Matt screaming, "No way!" I may even post a thread over there to link with the pictures of my stash I will be featuring, here. Wouldn't that be ballsy?

The Ikea table that Web got for me was about 10.00 and was black. Yes I have a RT-707. Still never heard of Spec gear. LOL

Larry
If it's the Ikea Lack table, that's the model I bought two of for $7 each.
