Thye pre-amp you refer to, was that the Spec 3 that came up a couple years ago?
No I don't think either the preamp or power amp were spec gear but they were modeled after the spec equipment. I will post a pic when I get a chance.

Now children!!!! More Spec stuff eh?? Amp board rework on the Spec 2. I was trying different replacements for the " bias interrupt relay".

More from that rebuild. This was when i replaced the bias relay, PS caps, all caps on amp board, all trans in V/A stage and all predrivers. The pics of the meters were actual real time listening levels on my K-Horns. Styx- Equinox--" Suite Madam Blue" during the crescendo in the last 10 seconds.

Want to drive youself nuts?? take a Spec 1 volume pot apart. THEN try to put it back together after laying it out in the same order it came apart. I was ready to kill the first thing that came in range after that. That one you see disassembled was the parts unit. It only had half the parts. the whole one was a whole lot worse.

No, it doesn't really need any work. I am just using it as a tornado anchor right now.

If I had the power amp worked on then I would need to have the pre-amp refreshed.

Too bad I don't live in Rapid city and I'd drive em both over to you. I'll have to dig them out and hook them up and listen for awhile and see what I think. :)
