Soft-Start Circuit For Power Amps

https://sound-au.com/project39.htm

I had to laugh when I read these Aussies building this project.

Special Warning
In case you missed this the first time: In the event of an amplifier fault at power-on, the fuse may not blow (or at least, may not blow quickly enough to prevent damage) with this circuit installed, since there may be no power to operate the relay.

WTF?????

They would not have written that warning if they had not experienced that failure already. Experience speaking...

After $1000 worth of parts on the Credit Card, I hope the finish date aint too far off. I was going to milk this for the next 10 months but I can't handle unfinished stuff in my shop, sitting around gathering dust... Bugs me.

YUP, MILKED THE HELL OUTTA THIS DIDN"T I????

I wonder if the 250 and the 150 share the same "Slow Start" board??? I'll have to dig into that. Maybe I'll try to make a new board. It's a pain with a shitty skizmo especially if there were a couple different versions and only ONE skizmo. I could simplify it and beef it up and eliminate some of the voltage switches and use a beefier relay.
I noticed this on my SS 150 board. This is also on one of your pics.

Shit manual I read said must have a dedicated 20A for the KSA 250. Highly recommended for the KSA 150. I got mine on a dedicated 20A serv.

They say the idle current is a constant 8-10 amps...... Start up is the tough part.

I was hoping you would decide to sink a fang into doing that..... I can say a lot about a lot of equipment I have run across but that KSA Krell amplifier is something of a work of art the way its put together , looks and sounds. They just look bad ass as a mother and that one of yours is gonna last a damn good long time now that you are done with it.
