Baah.. how about those four blocking diodes that prevent one from taking over the other, so that they provide equal amounts of voltage, hence power?

(sounded damn good, anyway... lol)

While your rebuilding yours. Don't forget to erradicate all the "sony Bond" dried glue that Yamaha used to stabilize the two medium sized Nichicon "KS" 1000uf/100vdc caps with.Usually this requires removing the copper buss bar cause its got corrosion on it.There are usually a couple small wire jumpers between the copper rails that are corroded , 2-3 resistors,2 ea. 3v zener diodes as well.

Buss bars? Ugh.. I "love" buss bars.. Those became non-procurable during my last 2 years on my ATE bench and they too corroded all over the place. We ended up having to stick leads up through the board and solder/weld them to the buss bars.

3 layer buss bars? Ugh x 3.. that was totally fun. Those were ripped out and jumpered.

Good tip! Appreciate it!

Nah, "AWF" (awaiting funds for caps). I was looking into it tonight too, trying to figure out how to make 47K's worth of capacitance out of smaller (and cheaper) caps. I'd have to build those outside of the chassis as it adds up space-wise to too much to contain within the chassis.

Probably end of this month when I get to sell my vacation back (long story). Those doggies are 64 bucks apiece plus a 20 dollar "fee"... bah.

Still trucking with the Nak AV-1 tho... I'm telling ya... for an AV receiver (and "BPC"-lookin), it sure isn't the typical run-of-the mill quality. Does the job til I get it going with the M80 or the PL Lee's doing up. I believe it ran for 1200 new, but can be had at a reasonable price nowadays. Well worth it! :thumbright:

Heheh.. ship the PL over here, and I'll ship the AV1 over there so I can have someone else check this "sleeper" out. It aint bad, I tell ya... aint "light" either at 35 lbs.

(goes to get camera to take nudies... NAAH.. sounds too damn good right now to take it apart... )

Although (hmmmmmmmm... ) I do have another one (AV-1) laying around, but it needs a lil bit of work as it periodically goes into protect. Probably a cold solder joint somewhere. I'll ship 'er your way next weekend if you want to give it a good checkup and fixin, then it's yours to keep.
