Darc, I gotta shit, shower and shave for date night..I'll be watchin from the bar, you're in good hands with Joe..
Leave red on the left, black on the middle..
Hi Darcy
For Q1 you should get readings approximating these. Q1 is NPN. Q1 pinout is B-C-E when looking at the face of the part with leads pointing downward.
B+C- means you plus probe is on B or base and your minus probe is on C or collector. That is the nomenclature below:
B+C- = 604
B+E- = 605
C+E- = 745
C-E+ = Open
B-C+ = Open
B1E+ = Open
Record your results in a list like this.
Results: VR1
R+/A- = 225
R+/C- = 231
A+/C- = Multimeter Beeps (Like when you touch probes together)
R-/A+ = 224
R-/C+ = 231
A-/C+ = Multimeter Beeps
I recommend you cut out VR1 since it does not work anyway and retake the measurements on Q1. I want to see whether it is walking wounded or not. I am suspecting it may be but cannot tell with VR1 affecting the circuit. You are dead in the water until this is fixed anyway so it really won't put you in any worse of a situation.

Re-take Measurements of Q1 using diode test on DMM
B+/C- = 556
B+/E- = 561
C+/E- = 715
C-/E+ = Out of Range
B-/C+ = Out of Range
B-/E+ = Out of Range
** C+/E- went from 1280 to 715 after removing VR1
Do you have a variac and DBT?So far a Pico Fuse and VR1 is dead, where to from here?
