I saw the Jer. I have no bucks so maybe just a look over and checking the bias would probably be it unless you have other not super costly ideas besides the face plate and fuses. Maybe you could tinker with the meters a little more. A couple times when I turned her on, they would swing and drop to where they should be. Not sure what the issue is with them. I know that Sally's meters seem to react a lot more then Blackies, more sensitive? I like that a lot indeed

I am amazed the Sally NEVER gets hot... I mean NEVER no matter how loud I crank her. You built one hell of a majestic amp in Sally Jer, every hat I own is off to you!!! I think the fans on her will be used for Blackie as Blackie does get angry sometimes LMAO and her temp comes up quick when she is firewalled
That IS something, eh? Wonder if Joe or Lee can expound on it a lil ... maybe the FC design doesn't dissipate as much in operation as the QC does?

Maybe also Joe or Lee can explain why Blackie hits harder also? I mean the transient reactions are UNREAL with Blackie yet subdued with Sally. Sally's soundstage seems so broad, like the music wraps around you, there is no "center". When Blackie hits, you know it. Blackie trips the speaker protections all the time from dynamics but Sally, no matter how loud she is cranking, never trips them. If somehow you could meld the two togther, there would not be an amp in the world that could compete with a WOPL (at least yet until Joe unleashes a White Oak Audio line on the World)

Unlike Blackie, you can use a Subharmonic synthesizer with Sally with no ill effects. It comes in handy sometimes when you want just a 'lil more impact from some sources

The full comps are a little more subdued, yes. Clarity and soundstage are really good on them tho.

Yep... BUT... I think clarity is uniform between the QC and FC versions, the soundstage is where the FC's truly blow you away. It's hard to describe, it's like you WANT to move the speakers as far apart as reasonably possible. It's like each speaker has it's own HUGE soundfield LOL. I can see running a FC for each speaker and the grin factor would crack your face

Lee can't but Joe can. I do know we can measure transient response-(rise time and slew rate) I have measured rise time on a QC, but not an FC yet. I will later this week when I finish Russ' 700. I have the opposite opinion of the Qc's hitting harder. I think the FC's are faster...but as I said, that's measureable...

Don't know about that either, I can shut down this 8 fin FC 400 in about 4 minutes into my K's.

Yep this officially makes my jolida sound like shit.. It's so clean and detailed! I can just imagine with a real pre! So much more musical than the jolida! My speakers are kickin ass with this. It's really bringing them to life. I think I'm gonna call dude in Chicago and see if I can use that modwright pre for a week or something. With that pre and the WOPL I'm might never leave my listening chair lol

Jase whatcha got for speaks?

Lee, let me explain a bit futher what I mean. Take a REAL hard rimshot and feed it into Blackie, your eye winces like your standing eyelevel with the snare. Take same source to Sally and the effect is there but no eye wince but it's like suddenly hitting the IMX Expander button on an old Realistic EQ. The soundcurve gets longer. Instead of a 7 band EQ, it turns into a 31 band eq with way more frequencies smoothed out. Perhaps just a bit less bottomend in the FC or just a more evening to the arc of the perfection of flat response? Man, I wish I could explain what I hear

Take for instance. I just played Zeppelin's When the Levy Breaks. Soundstage was SICK with the FC. I never noticed so much more going on before. Blackie excelled in the heavier aspects IMO and the startlement of my wife speaks volumes, ZZ Top gets her everytime :happy6:

"How are you not hurting those speakers" is her direct quote when I was playing Blackie loud enough to need the fan on it. She jumped two feet in the air when she was walking by the system on her way to the laundryroom :laughing1:

SHE had the Peter Frampton cranking yesterday with Sally. She said it was a pretty amp and also said it was very "live" sounding. Don't laugh because it's a live album hehehe, I know what she means... It's the dynamic hits that she is referring to. They seem to be more concentrated in a timeframe? The speed is there Lee but there also seems to be a hit of slighty less bottomend sharpness??? Maybe Joe can tell me what I am hearing. The attack of Blackie is ferocious, Sally is the beautiful Southern Belle sitting across from with you with love in her eyes. Sweeter sounding yes, but Blackie wins the dynamics war so far but you pay the price in heat which is why I affectionately call her The Bitch. Will know better when she gets back home from Jer's Cosmetic surgery and check over. I am sure they will get along fabulously LOL

This is just my humble opinion/observation

And I thank the Gods everyday to be able to own a few of these and met so many cool people who have made them happen

So far I've just been using my cerwin dx-7's with the 1250$ upgrade. Sounds amazing !!! Later I'm gonna pull out the cerwin at-15's so I can really throw it at them. I'm not going to screw the dx-7's up lol. Got way too much money in them. But the at's I'm not concerned about. So I'm gonna give them hell!!

Candyass  ... no warranty on them puppies?

I say you take the amp up to Chicago and blowup a pair of his best. Just tell him you want to see how his speakers sound with the amp coupled with that pricey preamp :evil4:

I'm sure there's a warranty lol but this amp is only mine for 2 weeks the speakers are mine for life lmao. I seriously might take that to his place and have a listen. I know he would be game! He's not scared lol! But I would love to hear this teamed with that modwright pre!

Ron, tri-amp your shit with "The bitch " on the bottom end and Sally on the mids and tweets, the best of both worlds...

If you've got someone else that wants to hear it take a few more days with it. We need to change up the shipping day of the week anyway. A guy heeds a couple weekends with it anyway..

Its hard to call them cerwins anymore other than they still have the woofer! Tweets and mids changed. A 17lb crossover in each. All kimber pro silver wire inside. Loaded with lambs wool. A bunch of crazy shit. But they sound like a 5000$ set of speakers now unlike before. I know everybody is like what you spent how much on cerwins???? But you haven't heard them either lol there freaking amazing!!

No offense takin at all!! I hope my typing didn't come off wrong . John at van l speakerworks in Chicago did the work. He's been building his own high dollar speakers since the 70's. So he took these in as a challenge lol. He was even amazed what he come up with. He said it all came to him in a dream lmao. However he got it it worked awesome!!
