PL 700 II REPLACEMENT MAIN VOLUME POTS

Gepetto,

One more question....
Are the new Pots hooked up exactly as the originals?

I'm not one that has the knowledge to understand Schematics but I can replace parts.
I really don't want to ruin my amps.

Yes, will have the same 3 terminals as the originals. Just transfer the wiring 1 for 1 from the originals.

Skip, are you having issues with your WOPL's?? Contact me, they are still under warranty.

Thanks Perry but, I don't consider this as a warranty thing on the build.
This is a normal wear & tear thing that happens with an original part.

It's all about keeping people OUT of the amp. It's yours so IF you decide to go into it, your choice..... I can't warranty anything where guys can just go in and work on shit.

Glenn, the 700 Pro were built with very nice Alps 50K attenuators that easily come apart for cleaning and greasing. I wanted to keep those. Because I'm using it biamped, I wanted to match that input impedance on the other amps.
I have yet to really understand input impedance. I've read about how to check it, and Joe has commented on it and how PL used a high input impedance probably because people were using tube preamps. My understanding which may be faulty, is that total resistance of the attenuator pot affects input impedance. Hopefully Joe will comment on this.
I want to try the CJ PV6 with the WOPL but have not been able to make myself do it.....yet.... It sounds so damn good the way it is with the Forte F44 that I am like... Do I really want to change it!

Not trying to be an ass, but the FTC would disagree if anything ever went to court. It's expressly forbidden in US law to void or deny service on a warranty simply because someone else was in it. You are required to prove that what they did caused the problem . . . (IE, in this case, for example, if the user changed a pot and then the outputs in a channel blew later, warranty is going to be enforced.) It's the Magnussen-Moss warranty act . . . and I have had to use it on Netgear for trying to void my warranty on a network switch simply because I told them I verified the dead power supply with a DMM.

Hopefully, all here play friendly enough for these types of issues to never come up . . . and folks who do go into things know thier limitations.

FWIW . . .

Perry, we already talked about that the first time I went in to Deox & Fader lube the pots.
It would be asinine of me to ship my 700 II amps to and back to have pots cleaned & lubed.
I'm not a hacker when it comes to de-soldering and re-soldering things. Me does have some crazy good soldering skills.

Not wanting to start an argument, just want beautiful music again.
Thank you again Perry,
