Jason, is that the XV-15 I sent you or just the V15? If it's the XV it's one of the best carts Pickering made. I can't remember now what I sent you. I think I have another XV here

I'd like to try a GOOD cart. But most are more expensive then my components lol. So 150 is as high as I've went.
I'd lend you one of the Shure V15's, waiting for another deal to go through and I will be able to. I need two on hand but when I get the 3rd, I can let you borrow one

My all time favorite is in my Fairchild, XSV-3000, I still have 2 NOS in the box and a replacement Stanton stylus I ran across that is the same stylus.

Dare I say a lifetime supply??

I am hoping, the price went really stupid on them shortly after I bought them a few years ago, I was getting them for around $100, take a look now if you want to see how things can get over valuated. The Ebay market on so many things has gone completely crazy.

On my Pioneer PL-630 I have a Pickering XSV/4000. I would buy another as a back-up cartridge.

I'm breaking in a new stylus for my Shure SC35C: a m35x stylus, which is a 1.5-3g version (the SC35C stock = 3-5g).

I have a old Pickering v-15 and a denon dl110 mc cart. IMO the denon blows away the Pickering !!! A lot more robust sound more bass extension and I like the way the denon tracks also. Great cart for 150$
I'll take two of the Denon's if you can still get them for that price!

Bumping an old thread again...

I seem to have collected a bunch of carts over the years:

For the Pioneer PL-L1000:
Ortofon Super OM (stylus 30, stylus D25M for microgroove/mono, stylus 78*)
Shure M97Xe
Ortofon Concorde 30 (Haven't used it yet, don't have the correct counterbalance, bought it because I liked the Concorde 20 I bought in '85)

For the Rek-O-Kut CVS-16:
Sanyo MG29 (with .6 mil point= Goldring Elan, with elliptical point= Goldring Elektra, and 3mil point for shellac)
Ortofon Concorde Pro** (for disco/45rpm singles)
Audio- Technica AT13e2
Realistic RXP3 (sounds awful despite being a Shure elliptical point)
(Radial arm on this one, Baerwald alignment.)

For the Glaser-Steers GS77***:
Sanyo MG29 with .6 conical (or optional 3mil for shellac), tracking at ~4g (equivalent to the Goldring Elan). Originally used a Shure M70B, before that an M3D, and before that an Astatic 17D (ceramic).

Unused:
Pickering V-15/ATE4 (needs a new point...)
Grado GF3E
Jelco MC-12
Undetermined Audio-Technica P-mount

History:
An all-time favorite was the Shure V15 Series III. For grins, I tracked an LP at 1/4g with this sucker- and it worked well until it hit the inner grooves (Dual 1229Q)
Audio-Technica AT440MLa was a bit on the bright side, included it in a give-away of a Harman/Kardon ST-7
ADC XLM MKIII
Micro-Acoustics MA2002 for my first linear tracker. OUTSTANDING cart!

*I originally bought the Ortofon Super OM for the Rek-O-Kut because of the 78RPM ability, bought all three stylus sizes to accommodate just about any record I could throw at it. With use, I judged that the Super OM was a better match for the Pioneer, looking for another Ortofon body to make use of the 78 stylus on the R-O-K. For now, the Sanyo (Goldring knockoff) with a 3mil point excels with my shellac albums.

**The Concorde Pro is a DJ cart. No overhang adjustment (is 3/8" too long on the PL-L1000, impossible to tweak the offset for Baerwald alignment on the R-O-K). Conical point, OK for 45rpm disco singles or wrecked "flea market" records. Ortofon intended this cart for use with the Technics SL1200, preset geometry.

***Hey! it's a frakkin' record changer! High mass tonearm, impossible to accurately set stylus pressure, VTA changes with each record, and the speed is not accurate- but it's great to watch the sucker go through a stack of 45rpm singles! The cantilever of the MG29 can handle the excessive tracking pressure (~4g or so) without problem, and the 3mil point is perfect for a stack of shellac.

I use an AT440MLa with my Thorens TD 160 Super and absolutely love it. Comes in handy especially for those records that lack treble. Inner groove tracking is superior. Running it at 1.5 grams. Previous cartridges included a Garrott P-77 and Shure M95ED (these two mysteriously went missing when in storage), Signet MR 5.0 basic (great budget cart) and Ortofon OM10. I will be sticking with the 440 for some time to come, am very happy with it.

I nearly bought a shure V-15 type III, however it was much cheaper to get the 440MLa. V15's are very sought after going for $200 to $250 on the bay, plus the Jico stylus would have been a lot more expensive. I'd say the V15 would be my next purchase but not for some time.

Dual 1229Q Changer with Shure V15 III

Here's another of my flea market finds of about 1.5 months ago. I bought it for $25 and it had a cracked dustcover. Shortly after getting it, a visit to Innovative Audio netted me a nice dustcover for a six pack of Guinness Pub Draught and I bought an inexpensive replacement elliptical stylus for the original Shure V15 III cartridge. I use it downstairs in my bedroom system and for an old record changer it sounds great.

Nice find Nando. Been trying to find one (that they're not asking an arm, leg and lung for) for awhile. The v15 should be sounding nice on it. I would have jumped on it in a second.
