The Great American Eclipse 8/21/17

One of the great things about staying home yesterday? I missed this mess! And I understand it was like this from Casper, WY to Cheyenne, WY. It took some friends of ours 8 hours to travel that 180 mile trip.

I expect a lot of research info from this one. The sun's surface is only 10,000+F, the corona, the gases that blow off the surface are 10 million+F, we haven't figured out why yet...

It takes a proton close to a billion years to get away from the sun's core where fusion started billions of years ago, it bounces, mates and fuses, then escapes to the turmoil near the surface. To blow off into light we see, warmth we feel :toothy7:. Then we have this wonderful magnetic field that protects us from the harmful radiation the sun spews our way :toothy2:

Is there another place like this anywhere else?? With billions of living things everywhere?? I know we're being watched because we are special, 'they' are not happy with how we conduct ourselves lately, we are about to throw it all away because of some petty bullshit differences amongist ourselves of religion, the 'why are we here' crap, let's grow a pair, MAN UP, WOMEN UP, TRANS UP!! GAY THE FUCK UP!!!! :cheers::cheers::cheers:
 
We did...at least some, when we started to remove CFCs from routine use.

We were afraid the ozone layer would be destroyed, now there is evidence that our actions may have allowed it to become repaired.

This is one thing an EPA is actually good for.

Yes! VERY cool! My brother in law re upped twice with the Airborne. doing advanced recon. He's been my best friend since 1978 or so. Burned a few tons of herb together.
And never ONCE talked about Nam until two years ago when he started seeing a shrink. The guy convinced him to let it out would help.
Funny bit; The doc freaked out when Chris told him that he has been stoned 24/7 since he got out. WHAT? Aren't you worried about getting caught?
Chris said JESUS CHRIST have you been paying ANY ATTENTION? I've spent two weeks telling you about the things I saw & the things I had to do!
And you think I'm worried about three hots & a cot at the gray bar hotel for a few days???

EDIT; I changed 82'nd to just Airborne because I'm sleep deprived & it could have been the 101'st

My wife is Dutch & stays in touch with kin back in the old country.
Did you know that they do a HUGE re enactment of 'Market Garden' every year? I mean YUGE! Mass air drops, rubber boats across the river, hundreds and hundreds of amazing restored vehicles. And they are suited up as AMERICANS! They LOVE us like we liberated them yesterday! And they still honor the few remaining Dutch WW11 survivors like nothing I have ever seen here.
I have multi files of pics from last years events.

Gotta love those C-47's !! Most beautiful aircraft ever built. Well............The A-10 ain't bad either.
