Well it came today. Have some more things to order/ It is going to be nice once I'm done. Gotta find a couple more colors of wire.

Well here are the pics. I have to send the face and back plate out to be machined and engraved. Probably the people doing this will be doing the X-amps.

OK Lee you don't have to solder all those resistors unless you want them. I am ordering the goldpoint mini-v monos. So you get out of that. LOL

Wasn't trying to get out of that. just didn't know I had to order the resistors for it. Or are they here in the box?? I don't mind doing it Larrt. Not that difficult.
 
Well it is all packed but 1 tube. Going out today. Please pray. I'm not joking. I'll email the guy about the goldpoints. They will be populated. Roy said 100K on the gains so I can burn up the tubes. LOL

This pre should be awesome. I do want you to hear it.

I am curious as to how this will sound, esp. comparing to Spec 1 that you have Lee.
 
Would it be a fair test though. Both of my Spec 1's were reworked to EW's recommendations and they are some FINE pre-amps after that. BUT, I will compare and report. I reworked a PL 3300 SEr II that came awfully close to em that I sent to Larry. It found it's way back and after I swap some op-amps it's going to Sutton. I've had the Grant Fidelity P 307 that Larry sent me and after I rolled the Chinese tubes out with a matched pair of Sylvania's sounded pretty damn good too.
 
Don't know about that; but I do have some cats. You don't know what I have been going on trying to find why I have 2 gains and a volume control. Really I have been asking and wanting to know. There is no comparison between SS and tubes. They are apple and oranges. LOL

I have an Accuphase preamp that has individual gain controls for phono input to adjust for cartridge output. It also has a volume control. If your preamp has input level controls I would think they would be for a similar purpose.
 
Orange juice or apple cider EH?? 2 gains and a volume control on what??
 
The pre has them. You haven't gotten the chassis yet. Man I was praying so hard that the Carys got there ok. LOL
