Re: Larry's 700B

Got some work done on the 700 tonight. Shooting for this weekend as a done date so I can listen for the whole weekend. Coming along nicely except the IEC socket.

It wouldn't have been if I would have laid it out to begin with.

Re: Larry's 700B

Ran into some problems liberating the meter attenuator knob/ switch from the face plate so Jani could work her magic.
Someone had tightened the set screw so tight they created a spall that kept the knob from coming off, even after all my tricks, PB blaster, Aerokroil, Heat Srink hot air gun, etc. Pryng the knob off from the front side would have only pulled the guts out of the switch as it came out. Pic 1. Fortunately on this switch model the shaft has a snapring to shoulder pressure on the switch body. Pic2. Pic 3 shows the pry tool necessary to separate the knob from the switch, thought for awhile I was going to have to fabricate a microswitch/ gutted pot sub, for my 700 after replacing it for Larry's. But it all came out well. Iwas able to see the snap ring only after thinking all that was involved if i screwed this switch up, a flashlight and some slack in the shaft allowed me to see the snap ring and know I could pry from the back, lesson learned, so all who read this won't have too.
Pic 4, adding the LED and meter drive board.

You haven't used that meter much have you? Quote from Larry. What makes you say that? The plastic peel off cover??

Re: Larry's 700B

Didn't know you had any that needed fixed Web.
Got the face plate back from "Jani's Magic Room", its hard to see but there were some indentations or "peppering" that she managed to removwe or diminish to the point they are almost invisible, she's good.
Web, Larry doesn't know this yet but this is his Christmas present. Merry Christmas Larry, oh andyagottamakethisthreadasticky.

Re: Larry's 700B

Wow looks like new.

I have a couple of Pioneer Reference Series Integrated amps that don't work quite right but so far haven't got them fixed. I took one to a local tech but he didn't want to work on it as someone had taken some covers off of some of the relays or something like that. :cyclops:

Relay cover thieves have become rampant.

Yeah lol. Someone had worked on the amp before and one of the plastic relay covers was rattling around in the amp. I have two of the same amp and at one time they both worked. The last time I tried them out both worked on one channel in the analog domain and on the opposite channel in the digital domain. One of these days I should get one or both working again.

Onward with Larry's 700B.

Re: Larry's 700B

OK, onward, Jani just handed me the knobs and rack handles, what an improvement. One of these days I shall pry the secret from her. These are both after pics, one with flash one without. Should have taken a before pic. This is a great improvement over what it was.
