It's getting late...

moving along...the computer was on it's side and the monitor in question has two feet and a third adjustable arm in the back.

I had to set it on the DRYER next the to washer and there is about two feet between them (as in why bang against the dryer in spin)?

Weight wasn't going to help a lot as I had a narrow space to set the monitor down, which would have worked better with a regular base.

No more sidetracking. I'll be continuing here at some point later on.

Thank you.

Thank you. I'm going to get some diet cola for my limes and work on shelving stuff and then see if the tower made it.

First of all, welcome to post #7900.

Secondly, the internet has been a mess for more people than me all day.

Every other action on TH is creating an error message. I know which host they use and there's no mention of anything.

Who knows if the Commies are cheesed or what.

Maybe the interwebs have e-VD/

Start a different thread on that if you will.

ISIS was attacking parts of You Tube yesterday and Twitter accounts for CENTCOM...who knows how much more yet. Anonymous said on twitter that they were hacking militant Islamic sites back. WHEE...no wonder the net was Class 5 whitewater.

I found the extent of the problem and have to ask a question.

The back of the frame was slightly bent and the video card pushed back, the spine bent inward and the plastic tab at the back of the slot was broken off....

There are two pins in it. I HOPE they are anchors and not part of the circuit.

If that's tweaked I have to figure out how to use the other SLI slot.

Otherwise it seems to fire up without protest.

Any advice before I try?

I don't know if they are alignment pins or not. You can probably use the other slot although some of the earlier sli boards were fussy about what slot you used if you were only using one card. You can certainly move the graphics card to the other slot and boot and see if you get video output. No harm in trying that.

I can insert them again and try.

It looks like the other SLI slot will indeed work. The first one is dead. It can be saved.

Well, I can get to live.com email okay now but Yahoo and You Tube are being a pain, especially any link that opens outside of Yahoo.

I guess it's time to reset or rollback IE.

The reset worked.

Sort of. I give up tonight, the internet can kiss my butt.

Must be you computer or the sites you are visiting. I haven't had any internet issues in the last week.

Bummer about the PCI-E ports though.

Oh, I tried what some lameass at Microsoft suggested to someone else and rolled back to IE8 to start again and now I have to install 3 boxcars of sewage again to get to 11 again.

I'll have the Mint Maschine running in here in a while. At least some things work better.

PS did some Frankensteining, he said...stuff vB suggested he try that aren't normally associated with vB 3.8.x but vB Solutions doesn't support an old platform like that anymore...

'Sfunny...AK is using 3.8.6 I think and they're fine to browse.

I still remember the company being called Jelsoft?

Well, that is PFUNNY...I fired up my external drives, Monica and Souldrive and what do I see but Valerie installed a .NET framework folder to Monica instead of C: (Valerie) like she ought to.

Monica is the MEDIA BACKUP, and not on all the time.

Datestamp is today, with the last hour.

Send REAl women.

Always a good idea to shut off the external drives before updating or doing any installing of applications.

Fully updated and on IE 11 again...seems to have worked, but what a PITA.
