I don't think the 400 power supply is capable of that. What I know for sure is a stock 700 with a neutral tranny(100+/-DC rails) will do 736 per and up. With a hot tranny god only knows.

Now remember these are the absolute max ratings, I would not advertise them as continous. For that to happen we would have to add a few more outputs per side and 2-3 times mire heat sinking WITH FORCED AIR COOLING.
I was referring to the 315 doubled so 630 per side theoretically possible? Can a bigger tranny be used. I have a few monster sized ones in the garage. How about the big Drakes?

Heat is the real issue yes, especially with a 4 finner. I wondered about mounting two small computer fans on the top plate since that's the only place they would fit. I do have a 8" clip on fan on the back of the entertainment stand blowing directly on the WOPL when I feel like putting the gas to her though. Wish there was a 8 fin conversion plate of some sort. It's never gotten so hot that I can't touch the sinks but they have been pretty warm a few times

I love the way they look on the inside. That's when amps were amps, I think the 70s was the era of the coolest looking equipment, not only sounding good but the huge intimidation factor! I look at Dennis' and Lee's walls of power and drool!

I like the look and more importantly the sound of this. Has an intimidating quality to it and not made in the 70's......

I'll be sticking with this one until I can save up enough money to get a treasure from Lee and see how they stack up against each other......

The WOPL topology has withstood 110 volt rails for days non-stop, so theoretically , yes a doubling of the 8 ohm rating is possible with the right tranny, more output pairs and forced cooling.

I'm glad we don't have Google Adsense as every time hot tranny was mentioned in a thread on our Usenet old radio group back in '99 or so they would come up with hot tranny porn  :happy7: :sign6:

Proves how serius they were and the bean counters weren't running things yet...
Yes they started strong with those pieces. Too bad they went the way they did. They discontinued the 1800 a few years back. Would still love to try a Series VI 1800. My cousin has a Series II 1800. Pretty much the same as an 1801 with a different front end.
