The chop stick risers are the thing that makes the most difference.Yes, very polite...for AK.

The higher you hang those speaker wires, the better resolution you'll get in the high frequency range. And yes - you guessed correctly - running speaker wires in the floor joists, or lower, is going to give you bass boost.I let speaker cable run along the floor...bare wood or carpet, so I must be among the unwashed. In my shop system, the speaker cables are hung from the ceiling, so it would be the analog of risers. Now that I think about it, that system does sound very good.
