We are in the middle of yet another discussion on speaker cable over on AK right now... Not as heated as some, but...
Yes, very polite...for AK.

"I say old boy, did you know that sixteen-gauge speaker cable is adequate for most applications?"

"I did not! Do you mean to tell me that the $900 I just recently spent on speaker cable was all for nothing? Goodness, gracious!"

"My man, I do hope you're not too put out about that! You have my sympathy!"

"Thank you good sir! I just knew I should have invested in room treatments instead..."

BTW, I participated in that thread, but not as Laz.

The chop stick risers are the thing that makes the most difference.

I let speaker cable run along the floor...bare wood or carpet, so I must be among the unwashed. In my shop system, the speaker cables are hung from the ceiling, so it would be the analog of risers. Now that I think about it, that system does sound very good.

The higher you hang those speaker wires, the better resolution you'll get in the high frequency range. And yes - you guessed correctly - running speaker wires in the floor joists, or lower, is going to give you bass boost.

No picture, but funny...

2 friends were arguing over which beer was better, Pabst or Schlitz.
They decided to send a sample of each to a lab for analysis and to settle the argument once and for all.

Finally, the lab report came back with this recommendation:
"Please do not work either horse for several days."
