700B WOPL Audition List

I did a test of Tim's 700 when I got done with his. I was monitoring the AC mains at the transformer connections while also monitoring the DC rails at the transformer also. While max testing to 4 ohms and a power output of 775 watts, the rail voltage had dipped to 79 volts +/- DC , from 103 volts. The AC mains voltage dropped from 121 volts AC to 117. It was obvious the amp was not suffering from a Choke point on the AC side.

Good numbers, Lee, and it tends to show us that our fat, heavy wires may be mostly eye candy.

Laz, I'm of two minds on that. Beins there is a dip at a steady load it shows the load/voltage relationship is being compromised. Not too detrimental but it is having an effect. When it comes to a large transient does that relationship change for the worse? Logic would dictate that it would. Although the transformer was approaching saturation, if not there already, perhaps there was nothing else to give to a transient. At lesser power levels with a large transient it MAY choke there, until
i'm able to also monitor voltage and current it will remain supposition.......BTW, I do have 2 fluke 335 clampon amp probes, we'll know soon how that looks.

So you are confirming that for these ladies size does not matter?

HMMMMMMM...

The WOPL is cased and on the handtruck in the garage for easy [easy? har!] loading in the morning. Early tomorrow, I'm off for mid-MO. Roadtrip! The speakers survived, and the worst my ears got was via the cell phone + headphones + earpiece volume at max. Thank you, Lee!

I will see you tomorrow Laz. :thumbleft::wave:

Have fun Bro's, wish I could join you. We could raise some hell and get seriously baked :laughing5:
