The recording is from Oct 1st and 2nd 1966. This lp was issued 20 years later. It's a tough one to find in -NM condition though. I think 500 were issued and this is the first issue. I am pretty sure this has been rebooted since then on Stork Records or TAKRL, not sure. I got this copy at the Dead show in Mansfield, OH back in the late 80s (w/ a 100 hit sheet of blotter 500 mic green camouflage for $50 from the same cat )

Man you made me have another flash when you mentioned the recording date in 1966.
I had to go back and edit my past posts. I graduated high school in the summer of '66. So that put me in
the Acid Test in Hollywood sometime between Jan. to june. Man its hard keeping the past straight.
I know the summer of love was 1967, but then again.............it could have been the acid:laughing5: I do remember seeing
Janis and the Holding Company at Reseda park love inn in the SFV and also Jimi at Devinshire Downs Pop Festival
also in the Valley.
Thanks again for The FLASHBACK bro.

I was 3 years old then LOL. My teen years were the late 70s through early 80s. It was great in it's own way with the music and technology awakening LOL. Just getting to see The Dead as many times as I did (and other bands) was awesome but to see the stuff you got to see and experience, I salute you Sir, that was the real deal and enjoy hearing the stories very much!

Thanks Brother from one Dead Head to another.

And i do agree with your take on amps and speakers.
You can have too small a speaker but never to big an amp. If you want to listen to led zeppelin or willie nelson playing on
trigger with nylon strings, play it the way the artist intended.
Turn it up, or turn it down.

I think I'm warming up to the WOPL and not feeling so underwhelmed. I confess that the whole system sounded laid back because one of my home-made biwire jumpers had come disconnected, and one of two sets of mids and tweets were not being fed. Now it's all good.

The other day, I listened to some solo piano by Serguei Milstein on the Italian Generali label. The recording was excellent, and that impressed me, what what really impressed me was the dynamics. My other amps can sound just as clear and articulate, but there is just no way to argue around the vast reserves of power possessed by this amp.

I need to have some local audiobuddies over to listen to this thing.

Let's see if I can get some photos posted. The first installation proved too wobbly and top-heavy, so I moved the amp onto some heavy plex right on the carpet. So far, I'm keeping the gain low enough so that the amp is putting out ~30 watts on peaks. It pulls about 45 watts at idle, BTW, and maybe 1 amp on peaks at levels I can tolerate...

Once you have experienced miles of headroom , it's hard to go back ...

That thing should be in a sleeve and be a snug fit in the foam....
Yeh, I know, blah blah blah blah blah, but it should be anyway.
I know about sh*t like this.

If you only knew how hard it is to squeeze that in the case... That thing is packed for the war....

I don't know about any sleeve, but it was snug - so much so, that it was difficult to pull out of the case.

I added the extra pink foam sheet when it left here. You practically have to sit on the case to engage the flight latches. Trust me, I could throw that off my roof unto the driveway and it would just snicker
