700/B/Ser II Transformers

Perry if 850 watts or so at 8ohms is enough for your needs I have some control boards the convert a phase linear into doubled output in mono. Two boards one in each of two PL amps give you 859-900 watts each channel. So you can use both as a stereo or mono. I have some boards. This is the same set up as your buddy Bob put in the Carver c-500. Pm me if want more info.

This would be the ticket Lee

Not me, going with the Rev "E" board all the way....

Standard Joe chassis with a custom faceplate with one meter in the middle, standard output configuration with output split between both channels going bthrough the DCP then paralleling the speaker out posts. Gonna have to talk to Don about some component changes for the input section of his board to handle the additional input voltage...

Unrectified AC secondary on a 700 is 72 volts, those Keen-Oceans are 84.5....

Joes chassis isn't big enough to hold 2 of those toroid's and all the associated circuitry. Unless he has a new chassis I have not seen.

Nope, it sure isn't, the power supplies will be outboard with their own enclosures, which actually turned out larger than a complete 700....

Now I get ya. Just got to gin up a cover where the original tranny goes. Something that looks good.

Yep, And parallel the backplanes leaving out one channel of drivers, ( bottom 2) and only one zoebel network between the two. I think ya have to use the channel B side of the driver board, the low voltage section is fed from the right, IIRC....

Lee, you mentioned to me you can just use one channel on a WOPL and get a little more power also? So just B side on both amps if running a pair?

So in essence you have 2 drivers and 20 outputs per channel....

Yep, but that extra power running one channel on a 700 would come from less droop in the power supply...

Man, I'd like to see a sixpack of big monster caps for each mono power supply, or maybe a 8 pack? Probably need a 50A breaker just to fire them up LMAO!!!

That's why ya need a softstart, you'd have to run #10 wire if ya didn't. Plus, not softstarting these power supplies would stress the caps, trannie and rectifier, inrush is too much to run without it....

Question, why do you even need a tranny? Can you can just utilize the wall outlet as a power supply? Wouldn't the rail voltage be whatever the outlet is rated at or do the trannies boost the incoming voltage? I am a dummy at this stuff but it is interesting as fuck to read about

Now THAT is an interesting concept....

If that was possible, there would not be a need for power caps right? Direct off the breaker box should be constant right up to breaker trip right? Also a AC/DC converter/rectifier so Joe's board does not go up in a flash?

That makes no sense, if you are getting a Plus and Minus 169 VAC off of the secondary's which is UNrectified.......

Damn, lost Internet at the house. Perry, that 169 is center tapped so you have 84.5 before rectification per rail, 118 afterward...
