700/B/Ser II Transformers

Got the monster toroids for the Monster Mono's.... Damn, almost hurt myself lifting the boxes. The Beer is only there for size comparison, I don't touch the stuff.

The UK gave Hong Kong back to Cina for a late Christmas present at the end of 1997...

NO SHIT... WOW, yer really on the ball Steven

In case you didn't figure it out, that was a joke...

Perry what part number are the units you bought. Where did you get them from
let us know

thanks in advance

I got these from a guy online who buys shit from businesses going out of business. Apparently these were custom wound for ADAIR Audio which was out of Lynwood Wa. They built, among other things, a 1200 Watt Sub amp and I believe these toroidals were used in that amp. They have since closed up shop (2007???).

I bought the last of them from the guy at Apex Jr

His name was Steve Slater, nice guy.

I'm now trying to get the HongKongians to give me the specs and drawing for them.

Man, I am excited. This is the beginning of the Phoenix Amp Wars. Between Lee's and your mono bloc builds, I expect to see some major ridiculousness

Amps as big as SX-1980s and you need two of them!!!!

Life is GOOD

Perry, Black and white, Brown and blue are the 2 120 primary windings, I ran mine in parallel by pairing Black/blue and Brown/white

Secondaries were Red--Yellow --Red ------------169 center tapped
Purple---Grey---Purple----------24 volt center tapped
Orange---Orange-------- something weird like 18.....

is that why you doubled them up? I think you said you were running 2 of them in parallel. Did you really need to go double?

The transformers themselves or the 120 windings?

Yeah I ran two trannies per side. The idea was to drive high power into 4 ohms all day, AND to put a lot of wattage into a 1957 vintage pair of 16 ohm Klipsch Kornerhorns. Stephen is driving those with a pair of Bryston 7BST's, 900 watts per....can't match that....but at around 600 per with the WOPL sound should tickle the vintage K's just fine.
