Picked up two Transformers from Perry today. As always they were packaged to make the trip to anywhere you what in the world and survive the trip. Good work Perry.

I got a brand new pair of MONO control boards from Glen (gotta love some horse trading) for a project down the road. It's going to take a while to gather parts for this project. 4 of these transformers paralleled in pairs should provide plenty of power for the power supplies and those hungry outputs.

Ordered four caps today

I have four 22,000uf caps coming. They are 2-1/2 or 3" x 9" large can 2016 vintage Sprage 150 volt.

Since I only have two transformers I may make two 600 watt mono amps

let you know more later

Perry if you can add a little info on the soft start units you bought would be great

Here is the layout

I will build two units from phase linear 4000 cases with a 400 case back. The transformer will mount the front meter plate with only one meter on the right side

Glen, leave yourself a little room to adjust the toroid mounting, depending on how it's mounted it can throw some interference. If it does cause some noise a small rotational movement is all that's necessary. I read of this while researching toroids...

Thanks for the idea Lee. I had reworked the layout earlier tonight. The front to back will be about 8" +/- with regular 6.5" tall chassis. I thought of a metal wall between the toroid which would also be the mounting bolt hole. The attached gives a little of what I am thinking.

The plan at this time is to build two mono amps in the above sized cases. The caps I bought are 9" long and will run through the middle with one on top of the other. The toroid mounted the the left wall vertically and using dons DCP with the mono line being shared through both channels so to lighten the load in the DCP traces and relay. One series two meter mounted in the right hole. The left will have a fan mounted to add interior cooling. There will be 8 drivers for each rail.

Interesting Idea Glen. I'm going to build but my power supplies will be housed in separate enclosures. I think I will try shielding the EMI on the inside (Like we used in our screen rooms for testing emergency radio's). I, as always will go wayyyyy unconventional. Here is what I have in mind for the power supplies (1 for the left and 1 for the right).

For the amps themselves, I'll use 4 of Joes chassis kits turned face to face (2 for each channel). I'll have to figure out heatsinks though.

Ohhhh, that WOULD look cool. Where do you get the IET outlets for the plug in's?
I stripped a couple of PL4000 pre amps. Now I have a lot of switches knobs and other good parts. The power plugs are from that.

Please Send me me details on the soft start units you bought Perry

The plan is on using part of the PL4000 the case and both top and bottom plates. I will marry the side brackets to the back of a 400 chassis. I plan on the a shield wall between the Toroid and the rest of the unit made from part of the old chassis. . This will also support the toroid

I will have 8 drivers per rail. Should be more than good for 600 amps at 8 ohms.
