Glen , those toroids are only 624va under load. You won't get much more than a standard 700 current wise, that's why I was going with 2 per side....

Ok Lee I think I am on board here.
so this should handle One channel of 550 watts into 8 ohms then right?

Here is what I was thinking.
Two mono units for 550 watts each
each one contains:
one transformer 624va
rail voltage 118 -0 -118
power caps 2 x 150v 22,000 uf
The amp will not be bridged
total 16 drivers in full complemtary setup
one channel driving both back planes from control board.

Glen I don't think you'll get 500 watts out of 624 va tranny......I used a 700va toroid on D2's 700B with rails of 102 and only got 400.....

ok time to abandon this ship. The spec sheet indicated 153 volts at 5 amps. I thought they would give 750va.

I am am lost now Cascode or Cascade

That is not a cascade amp.

That is an amp with Darlington output devices.

Ok I had a typo I ment Cascode of which has a Darlington setup I believe.

Now which is it we want for this project and is there a schematic somewhere to look at

Screw it
I just finished ordering the parts for the mono boards. Next week I'll order backplanes from Joe. Looks like a pair of inverted channel Mono Blocks is in the works for me. I just need to make heads or tails of the directions from your source. I need to find some heat sinks from a 700.

Sounds good Perry

i will put an amp meter in mains of a dual 500 and check how much current one channel draws if less than let you know what that is

Not really worried about it, since the basic amp will still be a WOPL but with an inverted channel. Testing will be the key. slowly and gently...
