Thanks for showing the build- I'm planning on this upgrade at the turn of the year after the holiday bills are paid. Another snag is that I just obligated myself to pay for a PL 4000/II preamp- a beautiful one from the original owner, and in stellar condition (hopefully no cracked solder joints between mother and daughter boards).
So- my question is this: since the transistors have to poke through the back of the cabinet into these boards, is there some kind of alignment issue that I need to be aware of? And is this alignment issue easily resolved? I saw the post on the PEM standoff holders- is this what is used to hold these things in place for soldering? (My naïveté is showing, isn't it?)
This kit doesn't look to be beyond my ability to execute, but sometimes there are some little tricks- just preparing myself...
Two and a half other questions:
- This is a good time to convert from quasi to full comp, correct? (WO sells the semiconductors, right?)
- I have to alter the driver board to accommodate the FC transistor upgrade (parts for both builds were included with the driver board kit).
