Yeah , it was fun.....funny.....no smoke though.....I wouldn't presume just because you are driving 8 ohm speaks you need no fan. If I'm at Mach 5 and up with the K's I gotta fan em...

Two Fire Red 14 Blade Fluid Dynamic Bearing 1500rpm Aerocool fans it is. I might put a fan controller on them to lower the rpm during quiet listening.
 
Sorry for all the questions....but, can I sit the amp on a flat wooden shelf and have the fans sucking the air upwards to draw the heat away from the heat sinks? (Fans sit on top of heat sinks)
 
I built a "snap on" dual set that snaps on to the back of the heatsinks and blows air straight at the back of the amp...

Don't see why not, that's how I cooled my Spec 2's....
 
Just reach down and feel of em and if they nake ya jerk your hand a way ya need more air...
 
Sucking the air upwards worked wonders on the 9500s, and that's one hot running bitch (even at idle). I tend to think its more efficient and cooler that way. I forgot to turn the fan on one day, left the amp on for 1 hour, then turned the fan on, it was like holding your hands in front of fan heater on low setting.
 
I better get some rest for work, 11pm to 7am shift, hot as hell too. It has to be done. Thanks for the info there Lee, great to hear the build worked out well. Cheers!

My factory fans work that way. The "box" that houses them hangs at the back end of the heat sink. You also get airflow across the top of the amp box, which helps pull out internal heat. That can't be a bad thing.
