Derek92994's 700 Ser II White Oak conversion

Well, there was no transformer sent with the amp. After talking to D2 about if he was capable of installing the transformer in the amp if I had everything else prewired he said yeah. So a couple hundred dollar savings in shipping. Plus Oz is 240 land so there we are.

I had to mount everyting BUT the transformer, so I did....but to test you see what it takes. YES I could have just mounted a transformer in the transformer bell but hey.....where's the fun in that???BUT, by mounting a transformer I would have had to desolder a lot of stuff that lokks better if you only solder it once.....AND I wanted to see how lame a 700VA transformer was in a WOPL.....pretty lame....it would take 2.....BUT I have a dozen of em....now remember these are dfifferent Xformers than the big toroids for the monster monos so I had to see what they had.........
 
Oh that's right! I forgot that's how you guy were working it. Makes sence now. I was like I know there electric is diff but wtf. Lol
 
Halfway through Prometheus---"Corridor of Mirrors" DAYAM!!......goood stuff.....D2 ya gonna love this. It aint goin back on the boat either, we're gonna fly this one home to ya....

Yes, but max out and SNR won't be correct....

We can infer from Przems what your max out and Signal -to- noise ratio will be, but I will test the rest and Jani will book it up.

Waiting on the Joe modified light board and we'll be done...

Hey I'm happy either way. And I dont mind doing a bit of soldering and photo taking before she powers up here in Kangaroo land, make the Kangaroos bounce like fuck (and I live in a city haha).

 
Big storm on the verge of hitting here, hopefully wont be too bad.

Had to shut down my Security camera computer, as my battery backup wont handle both computers at once for more than a minute or two., Running in low power mode for this storm in case of brownout/blackouts. Need to replace batteries in my big unit as these storms are going to be more frequent as spring/summer progresses.

*CRACK BANG!* damn thunder, I don't mind a good storm, just not a destructive one.

It looks like you're going to get one bad ass amp D2 - Lee's done a great job and the newly designed chassis is top notch. Fun stuff.

Yes I'll have to listen to everything all over again, its going to be so much fun. Outstanding job indeed with precision soldering and wiring :happy3: also Joe has made some stellar board designs, and its going to keep getting better too for future amp builds. I'm sure this 'experiment' with the transformer will work out well, those solder joints aren't too close together so I won't have any trouble re-connecting it with the assistance of Lee.
 
yep, no doubt in my mind you can do this.....It'll be done as much as possible.....another Phoenix first....transformerless builds...
