I will this weekend Nando. It has to be one of the great "score stories" there is.

I would do it before Larry returns. He's not quite sure what constitutes Spec equipment, yet. I have some "score stories", too.

Nando.

I really don't tell my score stories. Lee knows one. I don't just score one piece. I score several. I do shop till I get what I want. Sometimes you just have to ask the right person the right question. LOL

And be in the right place at the right time doing the right thing to the right person the right way on the right day.

Robert wants some substance, not the usual "right place at the right time" line... especially since I've used that one alot.

I'm thinking it would need an appropriate thread titled ____? I have a few good war stories, with pictures, for the rest of you veteran wheeler-dealers.

You would have to be neutered not to boast about your scores, or is that what middle age has done to you. Me, I was neutered after our 4th child so I have an excuse. Really, it's not going to happen in our lifetime that out partner or family member steps in to announce Larry or Lee's latest barnyard find. Unless, of course it is posted in the Auction section!

I know, the truth always hurts, good buddy! Larry is fast asleep in the back of the pick-up, so I'll have to wait for his response. Don't forget to bundle up with the comforter, Larry. Those damn meds!

Hi All,

Well, I went to look at that Sansui receiver tonight and came home with these:

Img_0533_rs.jpg[/attachment:224p6e4a]

Img_0532_rs_teac.jpg[/attachment:224p6e4a]

The Sansui is in pretty good condition but has a weak channel on the right with I think could be the relay or controls as it has not been used in years. I think it will clean up well, that is the hope. I paid $100 for it.

The Teac is an A7300 which is filthy but looks to have little use and everything appeared to work. I gave $200 for the recorder including the like new teac 10 inch hubs. Now I need to find a reel of tape and a takeup reel before I can give it a try here at home. Time will tell if these were deals or not, but at least I have a deck to mess with until I figure out what it is that I want next. It's cheap education if nothing else... If anyone has a clue about either chime in be it good or bad.

Thanks,
Robert

If your channel is still weak after de-oxiting everything on the Sansui, i believe it has 2SA609? Predrivers, if it's not an output that is where i would check first. A Service manual should be your first purchase .

Oh, if you only knew how bad...... This is only one of several hobbies which bleed $'s.... The CNC toys, Kubota tractor, tools, musical instruments, and the list goes on. Ha, nobody can say I am not well rounded!
