Mark, your cart might be very slightly out of adjustment and it only appears toward the end of the record. It took some hair pulling out frustrating sessions setting up my Benz Micro Glider. This only happened on a few records so it REALLY sucked with all the micro adjustments!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm using a Baerwald protractor to align the Dual, but the Pioneer linear tracker has zero overhang and is set dead nuts at 90° with an Ortofon Super OM30. That last track hisses like a rattlesnake! Once in a while some records have a bit of sibilance, either a bad cut or played too much on a cheapo SounDesign with a ceramic cart at 8g, but this was fresh plastic- no excuse.
Yes- I'm well acquainted with fiddly cartridge setups, but a linear tracker has fewer geometric issues than radial trackers. Once you get the cantilever at 90°, the overhang as close as humanly possible to zero, and the vertical tracking angle correct, you're set- there aren't any "nodes" or "sweet spots" to aim for.
Maybe Fishoz got a better lacquer master... The magic of vinyl records is in the countless variables, isn't it?
