what are you listening to?

How does that last track sound to you?
My LP is horribly sibilant, the only vocal track on the set.

Mark, your cart might be very slightly out of adjustment and it only appears toward the end of the record. It took some hair pulling out frustrating sessions setting up my Benz Micro Glider. This only happened on a few records so it REALLY sucked with all the micro adjustments!!!!!!!!!!!

Heading out shortly to paint some more but right now I am listening to the MFSL CD of Def Leppard - Hysteria

I'm using a Baerwald protractor to align the Dual, but the Pioneer linear tracker has zero overhang and is set dead nuts at 90° with an Ortofon Super OM30. That last track hisses like a rattlesnake! Once in a while some records have a bit of sibilance, either a bad cut or played too much on a cheapo SounDesign with a ceramic cart at 8g, but this was fresh plastic- no excuse.

Yes- I'm well acquainted with fiddly cartridge setups, but a linear tracker has fewer geometric issues than radial trackers. Once you get the cantilever at 90°, the overhang as close as humanly possible to zero, and the vertical tracking angle correct, you're set- there aren't any "nodes" or "sweet spots" to aim for.

Maybe Fishoz got a better lacquer master... The magic of vinyl records is in the countless variables, isn't it?

Debut LP full of blues rock goodness.

Back from a week in Hawaii with family - my daughter finally got an extended break from her hospital nursing job after a year of 2 days on / 2 days off. Love the place, flights are short and cheap from the west coast, & the tacky touristy stuff is about 5%, the rest is all natural wonder and aloha.

No sharks Lee - but we did see a lot of big fish while snorkeling in the black coral at Hanuma Bay.

What with the cover and the Finnish name/title, I thought it might be my kind of music. Not even close. This band could jam with Hoven Droven [pronounced Hooven Drooven].

Turkey's in the brine. The season starts!

A good one to kick it off....
