Physical Graffiti - Led Zep
2015 Remaster - Deluxe Edition

IMG_0665.jpg

$16 and some change ...

The companion disk has interesting versions,
but it lacks the true, out-lying oddities I was hoping for.
A bit of trivia I just learned about - after all these years - is that a handful
of songs on this album are from earlier recordings in the time-line of their album offerings.
1970, 1971 & 1972 out-takes I guess you could call them. Wow! Who knew ?
So that means that PG is sort of a 'Coda' prequel.

I personally like the companion disc version of 'Trampled Under Foot' over the regular, album cut.
Plant's vocals presentation better suit the song IMHO. The 'In the Light' version is definitely
an all together different take - on the song. Not a fan of it ... yet.
I'm really liking the alternate version of 'Boogie with Stu'.
The 'Kashmir' alternate cut appears to have some source tape
smears in the early going. Subtle but there. Other than that,
this version sounds too much like the original.
Filler!

That would be a nice one to pick up. Mind if I ask where it came from? Or was it a lucky find?

PG is probably my least favorite Zep album, In Through the Out Door is nearly a tie - so I rolled the dice and put it in my Amazoo wish-list
and waited for the price to drop. I'll also mention that out of all the newly remastered releases, it sounds the flattest of the bunch.
I'm sticking to LZ III being the must have thus far. Can't wait for Presence either.

I'm stashing away paper route proceeds to go for the uber-deluxe box on that one ... :tongue3:

This is subjective but here's my rankings based on sound improvement:

1. III
2. House of the Holy
3. II
4. I
5. Physical Graffiti

Duke Ellington - Daybreak Express
(1964, RCA)

RCA Victor Vintage Series reissue of early 30's performances. I've read that RCA owned the original source metal masters - very nice sound quality. It's an incredible listen considering the age of recordings.

Worth checking out, great late 60 British psychedelic pop/rock. Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne - the beginnings of Wood's Wizard, Electric Light Orchestra and other great stuff.

Love Mr. Mustache's hairdo! The late 60s/early 70s- what a wild time it was!
