Terrific sound quality, especially the acoustic guitar strumming - Riverside is jaw-dropping. If only more records were recorded as nicely as this one.

Dave: I've never seen a 4.75 inch record before. I'm so used to seeing you play LPs.

Nando.

The Cannonball Adderly Quintet - Why Am I Treated So Bad!

some jazz while working from home this afternoon. Produced by the great David Axelrod live in studio. Story goes he invited a group of friends to the studio, gave them free booze and a warm up, then brought out the band. Joe Zawinul on fender piano.

Larry Coryell - The Lion And The Ram
(1976, Arista) STERLING in the deadwax

Julie Coryell with Larry in the cover photo, her prose included on the back cover.

I have my eyes peeled for a used copy of an out of print book that she wrote on the music and people of Jazz Rock fusion in the 70s:

Any relation to Air Coryell??

have never run across anything to indicate that in Larry Coryell's biography. He started out as a musician in the Seattle area, after attending the Univ. of Washington, and Quincy Jones who knew him in Seattle encouraged him to come out to join the music scene in NYC in the late 60s.

Thanks SLF.

Just read "Born to Wander" by Pete Rivera, pretty good read...

The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street

listening to sides 3/4. smokin'.

still kicking myself for not walking by Nellcote - Keef's estate in Villefranche-sur-Mer on the Côte d'Azur in southern France - where Exile was recorded in the basement in '72. I spent a day exploring Villefranche a couple of years ago, and we parked at a beach parking lot which it turns out was about 300 yards from the estate. It's a wonderful little town just down the beach from Nice, will be back.

Thanks for the heads up. Will keep an eye out for it at the local Half Price books. It's great to have all these recent books and bios from 60's musicians, adds to appreciation of the music and that special time.

Opened my eyes to a lot of what went on, some of it pretty crazy. A cut throat business most of the time....
