Yes I do sir...and by the way, I have some Cornell Dubilier 35,000uF 80VDC caps if they can be used in either amp. I know White Oak specs a 100VDC cap, but didn't know if these would pop or not. With the screw posts they are 4 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" in diameter. I had them to put in Haflers, but what the heck..

UPDATE TIME......what's happening at la casa de Laatsch???? Any Mouser or PE or MCM deliveries lately?

Did you send the white Joe, or the blue?? Did you read Sutton's mind?? Because I couldn't!!!

Send a couple caps, they'll fit in the 400.

Lee, that is up to you. I would say the one with the quickest turn around time, so that might be the 400? Or, if you'd rather do the 700 first, do that one. Do you have all the parts you need in hand to do the PL 400 assuming no hidden problems? I'm like a kid counting the days til Christmas morning, so it is up to you. I'm just thrilled either way.

Did I say I'm thrilled and happy as hell? And tht YOU are the MAN?

Ok, I'll get the 400 done first, it won't take long. I don't have Don's DC protect boards in hand yet so i might be held up by that, when i hit that point I'll change over to the 700 and keep going.

The McIntosh MC2125 sounds pretty damned good. I have it running some little bookshelves with MTM using some Peerles India tweeters and a PE blowout 6.5" woofers (probably OEM for X speaker company) Sound pretty damn good.Lots of detail and nice bass. Mids great.....just not enough power. I'm getting the red Limit light going a little, even though turned down with the VTA SP-9 preamp at about 11 o'clock position. Not blowing tweeters like I was with the VTA M-125 amps. I wish they would do a distortion graph with this amp. I think it is clean, but just how clean? It's probably peaking at 150 watts per, and the Mac is rated at 125 per. And tubes vs SS. Macs aren't bd, are they? Better than I remember. I'll have to try the Luxman M-4000 and see what she sounds like after these many years, and then the Harman Kardon 19, and then.......................my wife may be right, maybe I am nuts..

I'm sorry I stay off topic..wonder what the storage caps are on this McIntosh MC-2125 and how old they are. Wonder if a freshening up under the hood would improve these amps. They can also be run in bridged mode too. I may have an idea..

Looking good! I love it. Looks like a lot of soldering. Your eyes must be better than mine. I don't thinhk I could finish all that in one day. How does the rest of the amp seems to you. It looks rough, but I am sure you know that all the remaining parts are in spec and working, or do you find out at a later time how all the other parts are working? This is fascinating to me. I think I saw that you had a magnification device on your workbench. Is it lighted? Beautiful work!!

We are all old men. I couldn't do some of my soldering with out the right tools. LOL I had to buy a lighted magnifier. I could see the holes to solder in the cart clips. LOL That is bad.

So, is it going to be the hybrib 700/700B or are you stripping the 700B chassis? I'm trying to tell form the pics, and my eye can't tell. Not much left but the chassis, a few resistors, a little wiring, and the trannie anyway, so I don't know that it even matters, I'm just trying to keep up with what you are doing...

Thanks from a neophyte..

I'm going to have to get a lighted magnifier too. I am trying to use glasses, a little Radio Shack magnifier, and whatever light I have available. I still have a few things I would like to work on, but I just can't see to do it very well. Do you use Mouser, or Harbor Freight, or where is the best place to get the lighter magnification hickymabob thing?

Thanks for the clarification on which chassis you are doing Lee. You are making great progress, and I hope it goes well with no hitches. I wish I were competent to do this kinda thing, but I'm just chicken I guess. I may have to try sometime though. I have so many irons in so many fires, I don't know what to do next, and so usually it's not much of anything. I have to get the Unity speakers into the house and try to put together some kind of crossover though. I found a website with a crossover for the Unity horn..I just have to figure out how to do the woofers and everything. I received a response from the owner of the system, so I may try some more correspondence with him to try and determine what he recommends as a good starting point. I think he also had the same Lambda woofers at one time, so I'm going to have to pick his brain.
