Skratch, you will have a few requests for the new faceplates from this blog. How about a refinish service? Sand off the front, re-brush, and re-letter. If you could keep the process under $50 you could double your money as often as you wish.

Lee, the PL400 that fell off the truck had Honeywell meters and both of them are toast. One had the suspension wire broken and the other had the needle broken off where it flattens out (the last 1/3). If you run across a pair of meters let me know. Even tho' it's a bench mule, I need the meters because I won't be hooking up speakers to it, only resistive loads. They get warm but it is not as good as watching the meters bounce.

Ordered Joe's driver board and cap upgrade. Going to put it in my original 400, It's still a virgin. Made an offer to a guy on ebay that has 5 400's for sale. They all have blown fuses, offered him 500.00 for them all including shipping. I figure I can fix them and put new face plate and sell them. Will keep me busy and out of the Gin Mill.

Skratch, did you order the bare board? Or the board and the parts kit? I ask because we have a group project file at Mouser that was last updated in October (there have been a few minor changes) and we can share it with you. I think we need your email address, let us know if you want it.

My wife is pretty cool in that department. I'd sure like to see the facerplate process in a thread.

Mark, I see that you put the screw terminals from Mouser on the white oak board. Do all the holes line up with the board.

Lee.....I THINK Mark is asking if there is a modern production meter which approximates the dimensions of the VU meters used in the PL 400 Series I faceplate. If he is ordering new production faceplates, it might be very cool to have a meter which is really good to replace the meters which were not very good even by 1970 standards. I may have misinterpreted Mark's post, but that is what I came up with. If there is a modern production meter that is close to the size of the PL meters, now would be the best time to incorperate the change in dimensions....

The circuit changes are a different story, and it'll take someone else to address that..

An entirely NEW FACEPLATE WITH entirely NEW FAST ACCURATE METERS !!!

I hope that is clear as mud...
