Ican't wait to try to get these La Scalas up an running. All I need now are the crossovers from Al. I've had them ordered for several weeks, but Al said I was in line behind one other guy who hadn't paid yet. I asked him if I could be moved in front of the person who hadn't paid....since I HAD PAID, and he said that made sense to him, and now I think mine is the next one to be shipped...as soon as he ges all the parts together...Come on Al...it can''t take this long...plus I'm only getting a kit. I'll be putting it together...but it looks like I'll miss this Florida trip for having everything ready to assemble. I may take all the drivers and horns down there, and maybe even would try the digital crossover, but it is only two channel, s I'm still going to have to wait.
Mark, so you think the Kappa's would be a good choice for the La Scala? Anyone have any other suggestions that might better the Crites woofers? The Lambdas might be a total waste in those cabinets if they can't fully stretch their legs..I know they will reach up to 1,000hz. so the FR is not a problem reaching up to the 400hz or 500hz crossover point..the only downside is the Lambdas require something like a 5 cubic foot enclosure to get down into the 20's and probably even the 30's or 40's...and I don't know how much calculated volume there is in these....since they are a folded horn of sorts..or are they more like an IB?
Maybe I'll wait til I get to FL, and measure to see if the Cast Frames version of the Crites will fit and go ahead and bite the bullet...I did have the Lambdas slated to go into a subwoofer enclosure anyway..and to replace them is way expensive, and not exactly the same driver...plus no one has answered any of my emails from Acoustic Elegance. Ar they in business? Anyone have any dealings with John lately?
