Skynyrd77's Thank Godamighty , Finally My Own WOPL Build Thread!!

I said just pull the plugs on the 1250 and use the tuner/pre to check.

Ok got the 1250 hooked up. Now when I turn it all on its fine. If I leave the amp on and shut of pre then I hear music for 5 to 10 sec then it goes away...

That is all normal...

Cool sounds like it's the pre!!! Alright Bruce Leeroy hurry back.. I need a preamp !!!
thanks guys for the help once again. And a big thanks to Stephen for helpin out alldAy!!
and you were right! I guess I needed this 1250 eh!! Lol thanks guy's !

You want to borrow the NAD 1020?

Thanks for the offer ron! I'll just use the 1250 till I get the 3600 or 3800.the 1250 has a nice ass pre section.. Sounds good like this. I'm not a big nad fan. I've used 2 of there pre's before and to me there lifeless.

No problem man, had to make the offer. The NAD shines with it's legendary phono section. Being totally redone, there is nothing lifeless about it. The 1250 has to earn it's keep so understood!

Jason, you're using the 1250 as your pre? How does it sound to you? I've been running my SX 828 as a pre for awhile but just hooked up an Adcom GTP 400. I've noticed a big difference in my soundstage and imaging. A bit sharper highs and clearer base. The 828 was a warmer almost tubelike sound but I'm kind of enjoying the Adcom.

its full and robust sounding to me . i like it.but the 3600 was smoother and more detailed. the 2 nad i tried were new ones from crutchfield a grand each and they sucked. yours ron is prob older and better than what ive heard. nvr heard a adcom

I've had a GTP-500 that I've put up on the stack now and then, but for me the Sui' AU-517 I got about a month ago is a real gem to listen to, partnered with either WOPL 500 or 1000 - Enough to where I haven't gotten the itch in awhile...

It's like, if you buy your woman a $500 dress, you had better dance with her.

Since a NAD 1020 was mentioned, I have to throw in my 2 bits worth.

Because I'm poor and can't afford to pay attention, I focus on gear I can get for cheap. I flip gear from time to time to feed the habit but have hung onto 3 preamps all considered to have good phono sections. Two are NAD's one of which is a 1020. I must say that to me, a1020 has a very distinctive sound that I like a lot. I've read comments that call it "dark sounding" which I took to be a negative criticism. But after living with one, I understand that description a bit better. It sounds corny but my perception is that music " wells up from blackness"' if that makes any sense. If I replace it with something else, I find myself fiddling and adjusting things to "take the edge off". Hooking up a NAD again is a bit of relief because I leave the tone, EQ and DBX controls alone. Might not be to everyone's taste but I like old NAD preamps.

I have an Acurus RL11 in rotation right now. Simple preamp but rock solid reliable and premium components throughout. Very neutral preamp compared to many others.

It has some very nice but simple features on it that make it very enjoyable.

Thanks to fitz43 (Doug) Jessica will get some green meters when she comes in for her yearly checkup...
