You thought you would never hit the SOA protection Lee?

Are you looking at your 79.7V with the scope or are you looking at the RMS value with a DMM.

The Fluke 179, set on DC volts...

Ok, how do I set up the scope??

Synch channel 1 on the output signal and then put channel 2 on the B+ test point on the backplane board and look at it at the point that the signal starts to clip.

And in SKYNYRD English that translates to
FUCK YES!! FINALLY I HAVE A THREAD FOR A 1000 WOPL!!

Ooops thought this was a converted one. Then just look at the B+ collector rail on the channel you are measuring. And don't blow it up.

With the scope in DC coupling? And don't blow it up??? Dude that's why we are doing this, to see where it goes south at 4 ohms...

And we have 10 amp rail fuses and a 15 amp mains in fuse installed....
