But the hundreds of settings it has it just totally ABOVE ME !!! Nav... I've said it time and time again... Being a part of all you guys on here and being a friend of Lee's is PRICELESS !!!!! The little wife said last night she can't believe what these guys on here do for each other.... She hears it all !!!!!

Kevin, the support page link I gave you has the US support 800 number at the bottom and they should be open following the holiday break shortly this morning. I hope you will just call Sherwood USA.

I can sympathise with the technical difficulties you might be having with your preamplifier, Kevin. My Sony AV receiver for my home surround sound system, simple as it is, gave me a fit when I couldn't get surround through the satellites. My best friend's wife, pressed one button on the receiver's front panel and everything returned to normal. This was after I repeatedly scrolled through all the audio settings on the onscreen menu and checked my wiring.

Now, as far as Lee gifting you a PL 3000 preamplifier, that's simply awesome. Lee is the biggest Santa around... all year-round.

Nando.

There you are Nando !!!! OMG.. Yea.. It drives me crazy ! I can feel you pain... This thing can do so anything if ya can operate it... I thought maybe I could. BUT... Nope I cant. I've got my 700 on the front channel... Got a 400 on the rear and thanks to Jerry I now have a Hafler on the two center channels.... When its adjusted right there is no better surround !!! It will bring ya off the couch ! But...... Now I decide I want to listen to a CD.. All those adjustments are useless !!! and there is a way to store your surround adjustments and you plain stereo adjustments....Its just way over my head !

Just starting to read the manual, but it looks like the first thing you will need to do is specify whether you're using ANALOG or DIGITAL LINK inputs...there's a TOSLINK input for digital audio signals, and I suspect that this has to be turned off and the analog inputs turned on, unless you have a digital out on the CD player, then maybe you could try using a TOSLINK cable for connecting the CD player...
They sure aren't making this easy, are they? (!)

See page 23 step 4...

Mighty nice of ya Dave to look into that ! Thanks.. Heck no they dont make it easy. Thing is i've never changed anything on my CD player... It worked great at one time just like it is. One day I hit the CD button and SONOS pops up !!! :evil1:... I've not had much time to fool with it over the past couple days but when I go home im going to put the CD in the AUX Imput ! And when the sherwood place opens im calling them !!! Lee solved my problem last night !!!! I will soon have a seperate preamp for the CD player ! We have a Crutchfield store about 3 miles from my house !! I know some of those real young guys up there and they tell me they can fix it and show me how to save my settings.... I gotta see this !!! But... Like Lee said ... the 10 year old next door is usually the one to go to with these problems !!!

Cool...you'll get er up fine. Yeah, Joe Walsh's new album, "Analog Man" says the same thing in the title track, "I gotta have the ten year old smart ass next door explain it to me"...Ha! I waaay prefer analog over digital.
Good luck, Kev!

No, call SHERWOOD before you let CRUTCHFIELD near it. You're just missing something you aren't used to. Have you used a simple Dolby 5.1 channel reciever before?

First of all, get all the surround settings TURNED OFF so that you are just in plain old 2.0 STEREO...then work from there.

Also make sure the headphones are not on by chance (you have a Dolby double-D with a headphone over them)
.
SKIP the SONOS thing until you are sure you are in simple stereo mode, then go through the manual from then on.

I think the biggest thing you are freaking out on is possibly the wrong thing to freak out on. You said you have very little volume, so make sure the speakers (are tere SPEAKERS? There is an A-965 AMP, this is a P- for PROCESSOR.

Anyway, you've got it in headphonemode or a monitor swtiched in (remember having a tape loop (or muting switch) on and nothing on the inputit then wondering why the tuner was really weak)? So perhaps it is CROSSTALK you are hearing and something isn't switched right. If you looked at the manual's front diagrams you saw that there is a way to use it like a loop, only it's not directly.

Meanwhile strip it down and start with the basics one at a time and master the unit with a tuner or CD player until you start to figure that out. I still think you have a button pushed that needs to be off for now. Call Sherwood.

I left my number for them to call me back !! And nobody but me touches my stuff... lol.. But some of these young guys at Crutchfield are up on all this new surround stuff !!! I WILL MASTER THIS ONE ONE DAY !!!! I know what all it will do its just getting it to do it !!!!

This thing aint so bad.... Im really going to get it all one day !!!!

Might be a standard setting...I had a Pioneer DVD/CD carousel that was in SRS mode regardless but have you even tried it with plain old RCA cables to see if that changed?

A hunch. Horseshoes and hand grenades.
