I love BIG amplifiers!
It is about 8:00 am CEE time. Nice and sunny indian summer day. I'll rememer it for sure. The day when my PL700 Series II got the new WOPL soul :)... Can't wait for the measurements and its sound assessment...

Thank you Lee, thank you Joe for resolving the recent problem!

fAR AS i KNOW, YOU feed it a known strenght signal and adjust the meter pot to read correctly on the face. I haven't read through the procedure completely yet but I bet that's close..

Manual says to drive the inputs with a 60hz sine wave to get 54 vrms at the out put and adjust the meters to read 0db on the meter scale...

yeah, setting the meters is simple. There is a second part of it where you push the amp into clipping to verify that the clip indicators work, and then you drop it down 20db and verify that both meters agree. You don't need a load on it either, just a voltmeter and/or a scope.

For what its worth, both the 700-II and my Pro with the same meter board had no issues with the clip indicator or the -20db agreement.

The wiring in that looks worlds better than the stock wiring. Just out of curiosity, has anyone done noise measurements of a stock one, then again after making the wiring less of a Charlie Foxtrot with stock boards and such? Makes me wonder if there is not room for improvement just by making the wiring less messy than it left the factory. The AC mains wiring in particular seems very poorly done.

On almost every amp I've done since I got the AP analyzer I've done before and after residual noise measurements. Big difference in noise level..Some improvement by way of the improved grounding scheme ands some by way of the backplanes and driver boards..

I've had some in the before measurement in the 1-2 MILLIVOLT range and afterwards they'll be in the 100-200 MICROVOLT range...
