pioneer sx1080 help...

that board looks lots better, but the tone control box on the other side is the one showing the bad solder joints.

yes better.

what about (in case you missed it)
test2.png back on post 79

test points 21 through 25 ?

this is what keeps me up at night....this is what i just did...
i have hum on 22 and nothing on 23...yet the resistor tests 4.4k ohm
i took one side of a 4.7k ohm resistor in between two fingers tightly and touched pin 22 and got a hum...
i will change the resistor....but dont know what is happening...
its too early to start drinking....i am stone sober...lol

ok...listen to this one....
i changed out the resistor....the old one tested fine out of circuit...
hum on pin 22...but no hum on pin 23 with the new resistor in circuit...
something is holding down pin 23 side....i guess...

under the tape 2 monitor and loudness switches there are jumpers buried. perhaps something in the switch body is shorting the jumper.

And now we know the rest of the story, page one. As Paul Harvey used to say. Do you have another switch ? Probably a stupid question to ask as if you have a bunch of old parts sitting around but if you don't I will look through what I have if needed.
