And for good reason. They were an excellent amp when they came out, even better now. It's just sad that the bean counters let those out the door with no speaker protection. Ed Blackwood relayed a story to me about a twelve year old kid back in the 80's who was an audio nut. his grandpa owned an audio store and had heard every amp and speaker combination there was, well the kid wound up on Bob Carvers doorstep and told him if he wanted to maudition his amps his Gramps could probably sell some for him. Now this was after he had started and left Carver corp, so the kid goives Bob his Grandpa's address and in a few days Bob shows up........./.................with a Series I 700 in tow, and Grandpa wonders what in the hell are ya doing with that old dinasaur, well Bob says, "It's the best sounding amp I ever Built"

That's a fine account to Bob Carver's credit. There aren't many times you would have a personal visit from an electronics designer and corp. owner to defend their product.

When I first bought the Pioneer, I was shocked by it because I had never seen a receiver built like this before. All I knew of pioneer at the time was the lightweight cheapo stuff in the 80's. Which was also the same for other brands.

I used to sell Elite around 1999-2001 but it wasn't the caliber of other stuff I've seen. There may have been some higher end pieces that we didn't commit to then but I don't think so, not sure now.

If you could take a look at the inside of my Spec stuff I think you would be impressed.

No doubt, I've seen covers off on the amps and they are bad ass. But I have seen olde

elite gear before that was older and impressive. I'm pretty sure it was older then 99

The Pioneer Elite M-90 amplifier is my favourite piece of vintage equipment. It can slug out 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms if needed. I think it was available in three years, only, in the late 80's. It's the component at the bottom of the stack pictured here.

OK I definitely need a part.
It's a PA1001-A FM chip that's no longer available.
I believe it's the same in sx680/780 so if nobody can come up with it I guess I can grab an old reciever and pull it.

Nope Larry, these were built especially for that model line. Joe now that I have the number I can go to work on it. Don't give up hope yet. Time to call in some favors.

Hi Joe,

If you wish, you can contact Gordon, or Susan at Innovative Audio by e-mail, or by phone tomorrow with your request.

http://www.iavscanada.com/contact.htm

I have helped a few members, searching for obsolete electronic parts, in successfully finding their parts after contacting IA.
