The supply voltage could be as low as 5V on pin 5 Lee depending on the tray motor type used.

Figured that Lee, we got tired of listening to the snoring, it was ruining the signal to noise ratio on our WOPL amps :)

Ok mI'm ready. Checking pins 9,12 with ground referenced at 10. When progressing through thge open/close routine pin 12 does the "GO HIGH" Go Low thing but only for a 1/2 second or so. Getting a good reading on the limit switch. I don't think it's staying hi long enough to trip the limit switch, or get moving at all for that matter. Looks like only 2 volts though.

Ok, how much volts ya got between pins 5 and 10? Also watch the same reading there when you hit the button.. does it drop at all?

It goes high with an increase of about 1 volt, but it has a steady 1 volt going through it also.

Excuse me 6 shows a low/hi with button actuation. 5 shows a constant 2 volts and no increase or decrease with button.

So without doing anything, it's only 1 volt at pin 5???

If so, there's your problem.. that is supposed to be fed directly from the 5volt (or whatever it should be) power supply rail. So either the 5 volts are missing or the chip itself is shorted Vp to ground and is pulling down the normal voltage there.

Hmmm.. might not be 5 volts either, at least NOT the same 5 volts that would be supplying the digital/control side - if that was the case chances are you'd see a LOT more symptoms.

In any case, that pin 5 is where the main "juice" is supposed to be fed into the chip. I doubt it should be 1v and definitely not something that actually "changes".

Ok.. yeah.. 2 volts on Vp (aka pin 5). I don't think that's "good". It should be higher than that. Prove it by supplying just 2 volts to the motor itself - can it actually MOVE with just 2 volts or is that too little?
