So, how do the CD-1 and CD-3 compare? Pretty similar? Both made by same company? Was the 3 an improvement over the 1 or vice versa. Dod they use a different circuit? Different op amps? Were they made at the same time, or is the 3 a later version than the 1? I'll look to Wikipedia, but sometimes the info is incorrect....and I'm sure you know the real scoop... I have the CD-3 (thanks to you guys)and I don't know if it could be improved upon.. Wish I could find an original remote...I'd love to have the functionality...and the feel of the solid billet of aluminum in my hand..

Gotta LOVE this forum. It's the best place on Earth...(er...cyberspace....)

I don't know the facts surrounding MBL1 so I can't comment.
The possibility re MBL built by Shanling is good since there's a connection there. :)

At 1 time, MBL almost ran out of money and so my good friend Mr. Pu pumped lots of $$$$$ into saving them and he's also tied with Shanling so the possibility of Shanling built the MBL1 is pretty good.

This is purely my guess re Shanling & MBL1 of course.

Seems I've heartd the name Mr. Pu from Mark Shifter. I still have those Epiphany cabinets too if someone is interested.
Thanks for the background.

You must have those cabinets when av123 went out of business?
I remember seeing some in their warehouse.
Good speakers.
