Larry's Phase Linear 700B

Well The PL 700B is home. The rack has been very empty. I am about to go clean up and unpack it.. I have to move my other CDP over now. I will take pics of everything when I'm done. Have to hook up the pre 1st. Trying to think what CD 1st. I'm thinking BOC. Well I'll be back and add to the post.

Drum Roll Please. I'm about to unpack it and take it to the rack. I'm doing 3 things at once. Cleaning, moving gear, and answering emails. Jerry is supposedly coming today @ 10AM so I want to hear this bad boy before he gets here. I was beat last night. I have to dust every thing. LOL Well it looks a lot better than when it left here that is for sure. It looks new. Do you buy that packing foam by the truck loads Lee?

Well I put Kenny Wayne Sheppard in. Had to get a smoke. 3 notches and I can hear it in the garage. LOL

I have to say thank you buddy. I haven't felt my bass in awhile especially through the floor.. I have had the Creek so loud that it clipped; but before it clipped you couldn't tell where the sound was coming from. It was bouncing every where.

Larry

I didn't even have it half way and I'm in the garage and I can't hear. Ears ringing big time. Gotta say though. I don't know how much the labs can take but they were holding their own. That bass was hitting hard.

No I haven't tried the phono on the pre yet. I'm scared. I want to put Black Sabbath " Never Say Die" Swingin the Chain on. I'll be deaf by the time Jerry gets here. LOL

I want him to play with the toys for awhile. I think I have enough music to hold him for awhile. LOL

Larry

If I couldn't get it to clip with the setup I have I doubt if you can. You're very welcome, enjoy. We know its loud, but how does it sound to you??

It has been interesting reading the play-by-play, throughout the thread, beginning with page 1. Thanks for taking the time to document the process of rebuilding, and testing the Phase Linear 700B, Lee. And I would have done the same as Larry, and played some music I had familiarity with before the amp rebuild. With the weekend coming up, I can only imagine how far Larry will drive the amp... and, possibly, his neighbours.

Nando.

It is a pain in the butt to stop and take pics and post through the whole process, especially when i screw up, it would be easier to skip those times but we learn even more by mistakes it seems. That rebuild was pretty extensive. When Stuwee claims his PL2000, we'll do a thread on that one. Should be interesting.

The amp is very clear. I am smiling. I had the floor shaking at almost half. Never did that before. These Normans are keeping right up with it. I'm glad I modded them. LOL Gonna go play with the tubes for Jerry now. LOL
