Nice and that is part of a Marx train set Brother, its the caboose. Marx made some cool sets and other toys before they went all plastic. We had a Marx tin silver passenger train set several years ago. They made a lot of toys back in the day!!
 
Yep. They used to go through where I lived when I was little. I vaguely remember them. Big fire breathing dragons. They were huge and shook the ground when they went by.
 
The layout and scenery? No, that's our club. I did do some of the work there, but I can't say it's my work...it's ours. It's a team effort.

The engine? Yes, I airbrushed and lettered it, fine tuned the drive which really wasn't much as this was a premium brass model. This thing runs like a Swiss watch. I doubt I'd ever part with it, but as I have two you never know. I have waaaaaay too many brass engines. When I was buying these I just don't know wtf I was thinking. Actually I thought when the time came, I would sell them making a fair profit. That isn't working out so well. So far everything I've sold I took a loss on. They're like antiques, no matter what value is placed on them, they're only worth what someone is willing to pay. But, I enjoy the hobby and the people in our club and you can't put a price on that.

Beautiful work Gary.
With that attention to detail, I wouldn't see why you would have any problems restoring a Phase amp and or adding WOPL upgrades,
and with all the knowledge from the guys on here that will help you through the build. And it can be built in stages.

I like old toy trains also. I still have some of my collection left of Lionel and American Flyer.

I have to admit this is true with most niche collectibles, it was more the pleasure of saying I owned them in the end. They really are incredible pieces of functional historical art. When you hold one, you just know it's serious quality. I bought mine preowned to save money, never tried building any kits, not even a Athearn rollingstock kit LMAO

Hello drummergrl.


I previously stated I was going to look for a 700 series II, but after looking at a few pics of the 700B's I'm just not sure. I'm thinking I like the series II simply because that's what I had in the past and I'm getting nostalgic. I don't know. What do others seem to prefer. Actually, either one would be fine. The series II would match my Carver preamp other than color, but that's not a big issue. Is there any benefit of one over the other? I'm getting tired thinking about this...think I'll go play with my trains.
 
No difference other than cosmetic, sonically, the same White Oak goodies go in each one, except the LED light board.....

And sometimes the need for a chassis replacement due to poor manufacturing tolerances on the original one.
