The Clair 700s have a pretty solid chassis, looks like thicker stamped steel?

How safe is it to buy something through craigslist that you are going to pay and have shipped. I mean what recourse do you have if you pay the seller and never get your item? Or is it like you're SOL?

You have absolutely NO recourse. Possibly some if you pay via credit card or PayPal but otherwise, none. I bought a set of NHT 3.3's via Craigslist this past November BUT I drove to the seller's locations, WITH A FRIEND, and paid cash on the spot.

It's likely that the deal you're looking at is okay and the seller is a straight-up guy but look for red flags. If the deal's too good to be true, there's your first red flag. Remember that there's ALWAYS another deal in the future.

That's what I was afraid of. It's just too far to drive from Ohio to Seattle to pick up an amp. And you're right, another one always comes around.

I guess it depends upon the amp but that's quite a ways. I did a 9 hour drive each way a couple of weeks ago to pick up an Aragon 8008. I wouldn't have made the drive but it was a BB version and they're more difficult to find than the ST's. Plus it weighed 75 lbs and was just too heavy to trust to be shipped.

AND..... it makes those NHT 3.3's dance ! ! !
